mmonohan mails to MonaG

Petthefabic mails to MonaG
MonaG mails to Suz

Since there are only 3 of us in group 2 we can each do two rounds or do larger rounds. I wouldn't mind having a small throw size quilt, please let me know what you guys want to do.

First mail date is on or before 1.15.21, please send the tracking info to your mail to person once you have mailed your quilt top.
Please also check with each other before mailing early to make sure it is OK. Remember to post photos and have fun.

Here is my center for group 2.

Both will be mailed tomorrow.

petthefabric 01-01-2021 01:57 PM

I've been brainstorming. Haven't decided on a center. Goal is to mail it Jan 11.
Mona G, I'm excited about your center. My mind is already getting creative.

As to Options: 1) each do 2 rounds; 2) each do larger round; 3) make a smaller quilt. Are these correct? I prefer a smaller quilt.

Mona, just noticed your location and think d/t snow/weather, it might take longer for mail to go/come with you. I'll be watching the weather. I'll try to send by Jan 8 so it'll have 1 wk to get to you. Is our group still open to more persons? It does take some skill, time and creativity to do a RR. All my Q-buddies declined.

Mona G 01-01-2021 07:14 PM

Yes if someone wants to join group 2 we can make changes to the mailing dates to accommodate.

The mail date is 1.15 not receive date

But I'm ready for your center at any time.

Hi, is this thread for both groups to chat?

Can each group have a name and separate thread to share pictures and discuss quilt tops? 😊

my parcel is already to go and will be posted on Monday 😃

Macybaby 01-02-2021 04:21 AM

I keep going back and forth on asking to join up again. I really had a lot of fun last time.

Mona G 01-02-2021 06:47 AM

Jacquie yes both groups on this thread.
Macybaby would live to have you join.

jacquie 01-02-2021 07:11 AM

Reba, can you let me know the measurements for your top before you post it out, as I can start preparing what I will do before it arrives.
Many thanks 😊🤩🙏🏻

Glad I found you! I stopped getting notifications again from the QB :( I will be checking in more regularly now that we are officially getting started. So I can't decide which center to use...I am leaning towards the one with the blue border. Any suggestions one way or the other?? I am ready to mail Monday...if you are ready, Michelle, to receive?

I too was thinking about offering to take a 2nd spot in Round 2 but wanted to see what I find out on Wednesday with the carpal tunnel test....do you want a 4th person in the group or to keep it at just 3?

Mona G 01-02-2021 11:51 AM

I like the first one with the teal/blue.
yes I would love to have a full second group.

Mona G 01-02-2021 11:58 AM

MacyBaby has joined the 2nd group, that makes 4 for sure and maybe 5 with CarrieM. Anyone else on the fence to join or not please let me know ASAP so I can make the necessary changes.

Mona G 01-02-2021 12:00 PM

CarrieM this would be great.
"Has anyone started an album with the centers? I can do that like givio did for the last RR. It was fun to watch the quilts grow..."

carriem 01-02-2021 12:09 PM

Here is the link to the album: https://www.quiltingboard.com/member...bums20405.html I think I got all the completed blocks in there.

I will let you know as soon as I can about doing another group...I just picked out some fabrics. :) Going to start looking at possible blocks next.

petthefabric 01-02-2021 01:18 PM

Mona, thanks for the correction to send date.

The more the merrier. We've still got 13 days to the mailing date. My inspiration just hit me.

Sure I’ll post here. It’s 15 1/2” which is the size of my largest omnigrid ruler. There are 2 extra inches on each side. I was thinking of asking if the group could let it be a 2-color quilt, black/gray/white (all shades) and any shade of purple, what do you think? I love 2-color quilts and Jess’s favorite color is purple. I think it would still be super creative and very artsy? I’ll be mailing out on Monday too, so the delay in mailing won’t be too bad.

if you end up needing 6, I can be a backup. But I’m hoping it won’t be needed, the flavor of the quilts is surely helped by new creativity and ideas so hopefully someone else will be interested :-)

MY center is 18 1/2 sq. Whimsical.

Rebaquilts 01-02-2021 05:15 PM

Love that whimsical beauty! Love the border fabric!

Suz, please reply to my private message.

carriem 01-03-2021 11:53 AM

mmonohon--your center will be lots of fun to add to!!

petthefabric 01-03-2021 12:11 PM

Yep, got inspired. And last night I started working on that inspiration. Having a hard time coloring within the lines. Sure like my first attempt and think I'll finish it.

Second try, I'll get closer to the required dimentions. Can it be a rectangle of 12 x 18?

Mona G 01-03-2021 12:17 PM

Yes, that is fine.

carriem 01-03-2021 12:32 PM

Petefabric, I did a 12x18 for the last RR. Here is my original block for that and finished quilt. I just asked that at least one round only be the top/bottom to keep it rectangle.

petthefabric 01-03-2021 01:43 PM

Carriem: thanks for the history. Good to learn from it. Yes I want mine to remain rectangular.
Mona: thanks. Sent you a PM.

Here is what I've come up with. It's not perfect, but it was a real learning experience getting the layout all figured out. I think I'm going to make a larger one with my bday "candies" now that I've got it figured out.

carriem 01-03-2021 04:09 PM

Wow! Macybaby that will be a fun center to work with too!!

Everyone has come up with some great centers! I can't wait to see which one I'll get first. :)

petthefabric 01-03-2021 04:25 PM

macybaby-great center. Has the feel of stained glass.

Beautiful center Macybaby! Looks like we will have another great effort with extremely diverse centers again!

jacquie 01-04-2021 06:10 AM

Macybaby, your centre is STUNNING!!! Absolutely LOVE your block!!!

Great news, I posted my centre away this morning... Hoping it gets there in ok time!!

I'm having a bit of a panicky moment right now though as we're in level 4 lockdown and Craft Stores are closed due to being classed as 'Non essential' retail https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/frown.png Well I beg to differ!!! I myself do class them as essential!! How dare they!!! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/biggrin.png So I may struggle here and there to get hold of fabric at quick notice, I can't just drive done to the the local store abd buy it there and then. I'm trying at the moment to get hold of some from my local fabric store via FaceBook messenger... We'll see how I get on!
Cross fingers it's quickly!!

jacquie 01-04-2021 07:18 AM

Reba,
I plan on using mainly different purples, white and possibly grey for the main part of the cats border.
I have been admiring your cat's eyes in the picture and wondered if you had any objection to me using some of this fabric for the 4 outside corner stones of the border I shall make? I thought it would break the colours a little and add a 'zinger'... Let me know, thanks xxx

I think that is a great idea! I thought that the green would be a cool accent color! (and I love the kitty motif!) Hugs!

Yesterday Cousin Dan asked for help repairing an embroidered table cloth that was his mothers. I think, "I can do that" but don't just offer. Started gathering information and he's actually going to attempt it himself. As it gets more obvious this is a skilled task, I offered my skills for his, computer tech. So the current plan is in 2 wks he drives the 6 hours to my house to fix my computer and I fix his tablecloth. We're his only relatives left (his wife has a whole slew and they live close) and we've grown close over the years. So this'll be a fun time, not all work.
Now to making a list and checking it twice.
Probably should put a little extra attention to the guest facilities.

Hopefully, Picture abilities will be restored.

Love this green fabric.

Mona G 01-05-2021 12:56 PM

Has anyone received a center to add their first round yet? Please check in often.
I'm working on some charity string quilts using selvages while I wait.
