I think there's less than 20 shops in the whole of Scotland - only one in my town. At the current exchange rate, fabric is around $22 a metre and FQs are about $5-6 each. Notions are about double too. I think Australia has similar prices with Europe. My LQS has a sale on 6th January, so fabric should be reduced to $13-15. I'll be stocking up on a few things for the swap then :)

I'm off tomorrow to the next town(about 18 km) to my favorite quiltshop. Their annual sale is very good, starting with prices from $6.88 per meter (1,1 yard). There won't be a lot, but it's very worth while to go. Then there are several down to $13,00 and some for $20.60 per meter . FQ's are $2,75.
I'm happy but I think some of our Am. friend will almost faint at those prices LOL.
Mind you, it really is a end-of-year sale, so it's just about a (small) part of the fabrics. The rest wll be the usual price, $6,50 for a FQ / 26 us$ per meter.
Ah well, that's a price we hve to pay for not living in the US LOL.
If you're interested, here's the link to the shop.

Have you been in quiltshops while you were in Amsterdam?

Just sent my PM, nothing liking squeaking in at the last minute! I have really enjoyed swapping over the pond, it is so much fun to see what is available in other countries.

No - I haven't. The last time I was in Amsterdam I couldn't thread a sewing machine, lol.

I knit (hence board name :D), so I always went to shops that sold yarn. I've been knitting some of those frilly scarves and if my SP lives in a cold state I might send her one.
