Today in Sunny Arizona, it's going to be 113 (or possibly 114). But I feel your pain since y'all have to contend with higher humidity. Mostly, it's fairly dry here, but still, hot is HOT!!

Thank you Mary. It was the first stocking I ever made. It's really been hot here. I just got home and it's 89 going up to 93 today but I bet it's even hotter where you are. I really hate this heat.

lawsonmugs 07-23-2016 04:26 PM

Pat it's about 90 now at 7:30 pm. I don't know how people live in the heat in Arizona etc. We've been in the mid 90's and humid. Suppose to be a cold front after tomorrow only gonna be around 90. Have a good weekend and stay cool everyone.

MizMelly 07-23-2016 04:37 PM

Well, Mary, I've lived here since I was 13 (back in the early70's), and yes, it was quite a shock coming from Pennsylvania. However, back then it did not get quite this hot for this long. Now, because of the population buildup, we have "heat islands" which inhibits the cooling at night, and sometimes keeps the monsoon storms from coming in. I'm used to it, but most of us do our business as early as possible in the morning, and hibernate inside with the A/C running during the hot part of the day. I have a mister system that I turn on for my outdoors kitties when it gets this hot, it keeps them from overheating too.
I am looking forward to September, when the days start to get a little shorter, which means less time for the sun to heat up to those 110+ days!

Here are a couple pictures of a purse I made this week. On the back side there is a zippered pocket also one under the flaps. I need to unhook the flaps to get in it. Hope you enjoy them.

lawsonmugs 07-23-2016 04:47 PM

Oh Melonie, sweetie your a better woman than me. I don't like the real cold either but at least I can add more clothes.lol

MizMelly 07-23-2016 05:12 PM

Yep, you can only take off so much when it's HOT!!! ;)

ljdugas31 07-23-2016 06:10 PM

Love the fabric you made the purse with! Very nice,

sewbizgirl 07-23-2016 06:15 PM

Love the bag, lawsonmugs!

nhnative 07-24-2016 05:28 AM

I can't imagine temps being over 100. We have already had 12 days of 90 here and it looks like 4 more. Last year we only had 1 all summer.

What a great bag and I love your fabric. It's a really different bag.

Everyone stay cool

I really liked the fabric also I only bought a FQ and used about all of it. It's a good sized bag which I like so I can find things. The outside hidden pockets are about 8" across and maybe 7 " deep so there is lots of room.

tlambing 07-24-2016 04:45 PM

The mailing deadline is next week. I'm showing that 1/2 of our stockings have been received and 2 more are on their way. Update me if you have sent and or received. Thanks.

MizMelly 07-26-2016 07:43 AM

No fair! Just about everyone is east of you in Sacramento!! Except Washington.... that would be north.

tlambing 07-27-2016 07:42 AM

QuilterMomma 07-27-2016 08:15 AM

I also got the July swap from QuilterMomma (Beth) today. You can't tell by the pic but the stocking is 2 ft. long. I'll have to be really good for Santa to FILL it. I also got lots of goodies. A Free Spirit charm pack, 3 Christmas ornaments, a pink fabric marker, a bag of Vintage Textile Soak, and a pair of dexterity thermal gloves, and a note pad. What a great swap. Thank you so much

SewingSew 07-27-2016 11:12 AM

I am so envious of all your beautiful stockings and your loot! I have not participated in anything like this since I joined the board, but after seeing this thread, I'm definitely going to get more involved in the near future. I just love Beth's stocking, and Sewbizgirl's too. It's difficult to pick a favorite because every stocking is unique and so awesome. This swap looks like fun.

QuilterMomma 07-27-2016 12:13 PM

I love using those gloves to do free motion quilting. It helps so much to grab the fabric to move it.

tlambing 07-27-2016 01:29 PM

What a beautiful Stocking you made QuilterMomma! So pretty and LOVE your quilting!!!

ctyankee 07-27-2016 01:48 PM

All the stockings are beautiful! And everyone's received such wonderful goodies, too! What a great swap!

QuilterMomma 07-27-2016 03:05 PM

Thank you. Now about that snowman stocking.....

sewbizgirl 07-27-2016 03:07 PM

How funny is it that both stockings delivered today ended up at the same person's house?! Congrats nhnative! You got two wonderful, beautiful stockings and plenty of loot to fill them with. Love both of those stockings. What a great shape on yours, tlambing.

SewingSew, the sign ups for the next POM swap are up. Next month's project is a zippered bag.

lawsonmugs 07-28-2016 04:48 AM

Aww,cute snowman. Love that he matches the fabric.

nhnative 07-28-2016 05:57 AM

Everyone has made such nice stockings.

sewbizgirl 07-28-2016 06:18 AM

Cute, cute snowman stocking!

QuilterMomma 07-28-2016 07:39 AM

Cute snowman stocking. Wouldn't it be cool if all the stockings were hung in one place? Bet that would be a unique sight to see. All the way from sheek to traditional.

klaws 07-29-2016 03:40 AM

I'm really sad that I didn't join in this swap. Christmas is my favorite time of the year. But, I've been working on 3 lap quilts that I need to have finished in a couple weeks. I have 2 done and one yet to sandwich and quilt. I am leaving for Ohio on the 31st and won't be back home until Sept. 14th. I will be taking them with me. I originally planned a road trip but decided to fly instead. I hope to join back in the swaps in October.

lawsonmugs 07-29-2016 05:29 AM

Hi Karen!!!

sewbizgirl 07-29-2016 06:17 AM
