This months project … “A Christmas in July STOCKING”


We will be making a Christmas Stocking! Fashioned and embellished any way you choose. (the stocking must be at least 12” tall)
There are no precise directions. I only ask that your finished project be something that you would be excited to receive.
*this month only, you may add a small gift in your swap, no one wants to send an empty stocking ;)

Sign ups will be open until Friday July 1st. Names out soon after. You will have until July 29th to mail your project.

As soon as names are given, please contact your partner right away.
Please contact me asap if you are having trouble getting in contact.
Please continue to post on the thread throughout the swap. Let everyone know of your progress, post sneak peeks and encourage other swappers. It’s so much fun seeing everyones progress and sharing in our quilting friendship.

I ask that you let me know when you send your project and when you receive from your partner.


Any swapper that does not follow through with their obligation to the swap will be banned from future swaps and will receive negative (swap) feedback.

I've never sewen a Christmas stocking ....guess I'll give it a try. I'm in!

Jaba,I don't decorate anymore. I sometimes put out a 3 ft tree. I have a old stocking that matches all my kids and grandkids stockings. Sounds like fun though I'm not really interested. I'll follow you all though.

We all have stockings but I will think about this a little more.

I'd love to swap a stocking. They are nice to decorate with.

Made a "shabby chic" one today, lace, pearls, etc.... Will have to see if my partner likes this feminine type or a traditional. Will make the traditional also but working on a "blessings" gown for my soon to be new granddaughter. Hers will be out of the same satin and lace. I haven't sewn clothes in a very long time, reminds me of sewing wedding dresses for brides that I got over real quick :) Kind of fun getting back into it for a new little one though.

Congrats on the coming granddaughter, Jan. They are such a joy . Our one-and-to-date-only is 16 months. Watched her two days last week, and it was exhausting fun. Yesterday her parents announced she will be a big sister in January, so we are excited too! I sewed an outfit for our granddaughter shortly after she was born, and quickly realized why garment sewing was in my past!

Congrats! Nice thing about grandchildren Chasezzz, when you're tired you can give them back :) We'll see how the sewing goes on the dress today, don't have a pattern so I'm kind of doing it by memory. Might have to go to town and buy one....

Count me in for the Christmas Stocking. It will be sew steam punk, so I hope my partner will like it. You can view the post card swap for June, it was steam punk. I can make a very traditional one if they prefer, they are the easiest.

Oh no, I have a stocking that is unfinished. Think I should sign up just so I can use what I have and be motivated to finish it. Count me in. HA HA

I think I'd want traditional Cuppy :) I think Steampunk is creepy.
I got all of the pieces for mine cut out last night. Even got my fusible fleece ironed on. And a cuff and a hanging loop...and all kinds of decorative pieces.
Just got too excited with the idea and that 2 & 1/2 hour nap late afternoon left me wide awake until really late!

Only a few more days to sign up.

I went and looked at the postcards, not sure I "understand" Steampunk :) think I've just seen it used in photo scrapbooks. Finished my shabby chic, I think, except for some hand sewing. Ready for a name and maybe will have to make another one if partner wants traditional.

I don't understand steampunk, either. Can't really see it for Christmas. But maybe someone will pop up who says they love it and would love a steampunk stocking. :D

Cuppy found someone that was interested. I think it's really cool thinking outside the box for the stocking. They are going to swap outside of the Pom.

ljdugas, I love your shabby chic!!! I have the trade from you for a pin cushion and needle case that I just look at every day. It's so awesome I won't even use it...preserving it for posterity I guess but it is absolutely gorgeous!!! Kiffee, I'll put a mental note on that and let you know or it will be a surprise if my partner wants traditional :) Never done one like this but think it turned out nice.....ljdugas, that's how much I missed your beautiful creations on this board, tried to copycat you:)....if only I could. I'm so glad you are back, now I have to hope to get you as a partner again on some swap.

well I'm not in this month's swap . I thought I might just post a picture anyway.lol. This is the wreath I made today for my kitchen. Most are made with squares sewn together. This one is a little different as it is hexi's and have a little fold down at the center. Hope you all have a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend. I'll be following along to see the stocking ya all make. Hugs Mary
