Well.... Tiny purse handles OR gigantic earrings??? lol. Is this a test? Do they bend? Maybe scarf holders, belt buckles, tiaras, small picture frames, hat adornments, mobiles... Whatever they are or become, they are beautiful..

SharonAnne 06-16-2012 02:54 PM

Guess I should not have jumped right in with a response, but read Brenda21's answer first. At least great minds run the same channels.. - picture frames!!!

I love shiny things, too, Krystyna.. And so do a couple of crows (real huge, black birds) who attached from behind me to get my sparkly headband last year. I don't wear that headband outside in the sun anymore. So don't even think of making headbands out of these things.

Maybe you could have a contest and put one in a few SP and RAK packages and see who comes up with the best design.

Just wanted to share an amusing thing that happened to me today... My birthday is at the end of the month (not saying this to get gifts!!!) and it will be my first year of Social Security eligibility - I may have mentioned that already, though, thus making a long story longer...sorry. Anyway I got two envelopes in the mail today - neither of which was my SP package (just thought I'd throw that in). Soooo, birthdays just aren't what they used to be... One envelope was plain and the other was from the IRS. "Oh Joy" was my first thought. I opened the plain one first - it was information about cremations. Sigh. It turns out that the scary IRS notification was the better of the two. IT was a letter saying that they owe me another $250 in tax refund - I have already received $63 back. I'm to get it in 2-3 weeks. How's that for luck, I ask you???? Now, I can afford the downpayment on a cremation!! Ey,ey, ey!! At least both are less fattening than cake, right?

There are a couple of chains that I know are for bags ... but they don't go with the sparkly things. Box has already been put back where it belongs ... I've moved on ... unless someone comes up with a bright idea.

I have four long flat plastic holders ... think they are for scrapbooking or something ... filled with serger thread. All of my embroidery thread is in order. Mostly. And there's a LOT of it. I have one of those little tiny five drawer things on my desk and finally sorted through that. Needles and pins in the bottom, various feet and cleaning tools in the next, things that cut in the middle, clamps in the next and more pins and those ring binder thingies in the top. I sorted through all my bobbins and they are now in four little boxes by type. I filled a 16 qt bin with ribbon ... and now we're taking the dogs for a walk. Oh! If anyone has any of those little cassette boxes, especially the soft plastic ones, they are terrific bobbin holders!!!

Oh! almost forgot. I stuffed a squishy ... and you know I can STUFF ... with lacey bits for Crazy Quiltin Robin who makes awesome crazy quilts ...

Over and out ...

i would have bought them too. Can't pass up shiney things either. looks like you would use them on scarfs or purses as bling.

DEAR QUILTING BOARD FRIENDS: FROM all over the country.... I have no words that tell all of you how much I have greatly appreciated you love , support, prayers, cards, fat quaters, pins, kind messages, books, words, in the very unexpeced death of my hubby in MAY. I am so very grateful for all of you . It has been a tough challenge to swim against the current for my family, friends, neighbors, business collegues of my hubs, and our church family. We have all been hit hard by this one, as my hubby was our church organist, and a kind gentkle man to all. Many of you know how a sudden unexpedted turn in life throws us way off. I AM not in this alone, the folks mentioned above, are all in this together and have been VERY supportive also... I wish I could hug everyone of you who has sent a card, prayer, etc. I have a huge supportive circle helpng with so many things that need to be attended to. I appologize for the delay in a message, as the computer needed to be "cleaned" out of business items etc. for my protection, plus it decided to have an attitude lately. These days we function in a world of high tech and is is necessary to function with basics like communications. My faith is strong, and I have put my trust fully in GODS hands as to get through each day. I spend alot of time with my middle sister and her kids and grandkids. They seem to love having another auntie around and we help each other move forward together. GOD BLESS EVERYONE OF YOU... LOOk forward to cont. the SP swaps as my hubby would want me to.. HUGS . My kitty is a great pal to have around too! =^.^=

Krystyna 06-16-2012 04:33 PM

Oh, Jan, much love and many hugs to you. God will get you through this.

jillnjo 06-16-2012 04:34 PM

Jan; I've been thinking about you! Hoping things are manageable on a day to day basis! Sounds like you have lots of caring friends around you. May God continue to bless you and walk with you. I know it's so hard to lose your hubby and best friend. N.

Krystyna 06-16-2012 04:39 PM

Just got back from walking the dogs and my husband and Daisy almost got run over by a kid zooming along on a motorized scooter -- looking BACK over his shoulder! Thank God my husband put his arm out to stop it. Daisy got a little tap and yelped, but I think she's OK, but terrified. After all the commotion, some slightly less than desirable neighbors came out and started screaming at us, saying "Oh, the poor kid!" What????

When everyone recovered we continued the walk and I got hit with a soft ball. I looked up and the kids were having a game in the street -- they completely blocked it off from traffic with cones and Kids At Play signs! Does anyone remember when "Go play in the street" was a terrible thing to say? Might I mention that there are two huge parks just a couple of blocks away?

OK. Done cranking. But don't mess with my Daisy! :hunf:

mizkyp 06-16-2012 05:54 PM

Jan it's great to hear from you. Keep moving forward and God Bless.

Krystyna, I think that you should make wind chimes out of the shiny things.

We went to the park tonight to walk the dog and noone else was there. It was a gorgous night and no kids were outside. At least I didnt have to run from softballs or scooters.

brenda21 06-16-2012 05:58 PM

OH NO!!! Poor Daisy!!! Is she ok??? and DH? that is terrible!! and sorry you got hit with a softball:eek: our walk wasn't exciting at all tonight....

Well I just found out one of my facebook game friends who I've become fond of, is having a baby girl, so I think I'll turn it into a baby blanket. I was planning to use it as a center panel for a quilt but was still trying to decide a design. I know I"m going to border it with some flying geese but I don't know what else yet, but I'll give it to her.

stitchingpost 06-16-2012 06:50 PM

Good evening ladies, boy do I have a web site for you all, your going to love it,its called cafe press.com you need to check it out, look under quilting

starshine 06-16-2012 07:37 PM

Got on here to say I got a wonderful package from tumrub today. will try to post a pic tomorrow with a different camera than the one I tried using last week on another swap thread. I'll list everything tomorrow, I almost got a white kitten though.
I like shiney crystals from the C country. Maybe they were like a slide thing to slide a scarf through, but I would just look at the pretty sparkles they make, and K you know I Like sparkly things, don't you.
Still have some pages to go back and read but wanted to let you know my sp came through. Thanks tumrub!

SharonAnne 06-16-2012 08:12 PM

After seeing Krystyna's sparklies today, I was looking at shoes. I saw some gorgeous pink platforms with spike heels that had crystals glued all over the heel and the platform area. If you can't think of a use for the box of "whatnots", maybe remove the crystals and decorate some shoes!!!

Jan - Many, many thoughts and prayers to you and your family. I am so glad you have a loving support system.

Anastasia - Very nice heart. It'll be a lovely center for a baby quilt.

Oh I hated having bronchitis! I use to get it two to three times a year when I was a smoker, since I quit over 8 years ago, I haven't had it since. Comforts to you and your hubby!!

Lori Peercy 06-17-2012 12:53 AM

Had a terrible storm here this afternoon about 4pm and I was caught in it on my way to Marty's house. I swear the winds were 80 mph and I had to dodge downed power lines and things flying in the air to get to her house! I kept praying the whole drive! The whole town lost electicity and mine just came on and cable was out also. I am back up and running now since 2:45 am meaning things were out here at my apt building since 4pm last night. It was a VERY long walk in the dark to my apartment I can tell you! Marty got her electric back at 7:15pm! You would think that they would get electric back to the elderly and disabled first! Oh well. Main thing is that I am safe and back online!

Krystyna 06-17-2012 02:59 AM

Yikes, Lori! There is some scary weather around these days. Glad you made it home OK.

joejoe31 06-17-2012 05:12 AM

OH so sorry, that is awful stuff....I had it twice the year I quit smoking...no energy, no appetite, no sleeping...get better soon. will be thinking about ya....

Pinkwater 06-17-2012 07:19 AM

I got 3 packages in 2 days! Yep, I don't know exactly what possessed me but I signed up to do 3 swaps. It was fun and sure was fun getting 3 SP packages but next month I'm going to concentrate on making one super awesome package!

Onto the AWESOME packages I received:

#1 arrived Friday but since I got home late it had to wait until Saturday. A BIG SHOUTOUT to Celia in North Carolina! She sent me some items I'd actually owned before but either lost or have somewhere in my house. My favorite items include a hard plastic case (in hot pink!) that you can put scissors and other gizmos and little tools into and slip into your pocket book...so handy to have on the go! A book by my favorite author Debbie Macomber and jelly beans! I think I'm going to get fat if I stay on this board!

#2 Thanks and a big hug to Crafty Dalene aka Darlene in Florida! I got another cool package with a cutest pin cushion and a cool (hot pink!) clip on book light, book and tissues holder (the book looks like a tear jerker/romance) and a Milky Way midnight, yum! Looks like a fun evening in coming which is great since my hubby is travelling to London for almost a week and then I leave for a week in NC to look for a new home for my sister.

#3 Susan in Florida (a former Long Islander!) sent me a fabulous package full off goodies including an Omnigrid Rotary Cutter case (that will positively be travelling with me) and an beautiful embroidered tea towel...and can you believe she actually apologized for only sending one? Crazy!!! It's so lovely Susan, one is wonderful especially since my kitchen is a bit dreary and badly in need of a paint job! She also sent me one of the most talked about/ coveted items that was sent in a package, but you have to wait for the pictures to see what it was!

and did I mention the fabric? turquoise, yellow, pink, red, swirly patterned and Chicken! AWESOME! I immediately laid the fabric out in grouping and started planning projects.

So thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you fabulous women. Saturday was a great day and not just because of the "stuff" but because off the love and kindness that was in every package. I am constantly amazed at how generous you all (and I do me all of you) are. I don't like to bring up trouble, but you should all know that I've had a very rough couple of years with the loss of my mom and my niece and multiple surgeries. Depression is a terrible beast. I've been doing much better but having the opportunity to "meet" you and have a really good time swapping and chatting has been a big lift to my spirits. This is only my second month in the swap, but checking in to see what's up with all has become a regular part of my day, so thanks.

here's the crappy part, my card reader is not working so I have to get out to the store today and get a new one so I can post all the photos of my packages. I can't wait to show you everything. There's so much more than I wrote about.

Have a great Father's Day. Jack (the hubby) and I had a very late dinner in Brooklyn with our sons Josh and Noah and Cate (Noah's wonderful girlfriend). We didn't get home until waaay past 2 am after the drive home. Today, thankfully will be a quiet day with some sewing and cooking and being grateful for the men in my life. I am blessed.

hugs to you all (and I hope my long posts aren't too boring).
