Nancy was my SP for this month and let me know she did receive her package, hope you will enjoy it and put it to good use.
------------------------------------------------ And I will be posting pictures to brag about the great package jaba sent as soon as I settle my computer issues. Kids coming in this weekend, and it's on their list of to-dos. This is payback for all the time I spent at the kitchen table doing homework with them. |

I wanted to post this picture of what I sent to my May secret pal, who sent me a lovely thank you via pm. She collects bears (that's supposed to be a bear mug rug, though my kids thought it was a bunny) and I Spy squares.

So glad you enjoyed your package.

Hav4boys - you are amazing!! I LOVED my package! Two wonderful old spools...so gorgeous, and I know just where they will go. A McCall's craft pattern for camping items - I am SO making these - we love spending time as a family in the mountains. Three half-yard lengths of great I Spy novelty prints (darling), and several FQs that I adore. Four, count them FOUR, quilting magazines that I can't wait to pour over. Homemade laundry soap I'm eager to try. Twizzlers and dark chocolate - I'm in heaven! Great little stork scissors. Inspiring notecards and stickers because she knows I like to send encouraging notes. And my favorite (well, I also liked those spools quite a bit) -- a tiny pocket prayer quilt, which has enclosed in one of its squares a tiny cross you can feel, though not see. A reminder of God's grace and mercy in my life. Thank you again. I appreciate your thoughtfulness so much! Here's the pic: |
Knitette you got to love the puppy even when they are naughty. My Jellybean has been so sad since DH passed. As he would say to me all the time he is more your dog than mine, but He justed to always bring his treats to daddy to break up into small peices for him. Now the little bugger is bringing his rawhide chew sticks up on the couch when he knows better. The only furniture he was allowed to have them on was DH's ottaman and he hasn't gotten up there since DH passed.
Gaijin and Nancy Happy late Birthday. It looks like everyone has been receiving really nice packages from the SP. I'm almost done packing up the house. I am totally blown away by the number of things that DH had collected over the years. Most of this was done prior to us meeting. We were together for 6 1/2 years. He had SI-FI, Hotwheels, German WWII figures, vehicles, and books, Transformers, Records (even some of the Hip-Pocket Records, which I'm sure some of you will remember from 67 to 69.) Kiss (he loved the band. He even had brand new never woren concert shirts from every concert that he went to for them.) That's all that I can remember from the top of my head. He had always told me that this was his insurance policy and that if anything happened to him that it would take care of me. His Uncle Karl Wolff was very high up in the SS during WWII and I found his metals that DH had along with a very old flag from his Great Uncles ship that he was the Captian on, which I am guessing is from WWI. I also found his collection of Harley Davidson shirts and will be making t-shirt quilts out of them and the Kiss shirts at some point. I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day. |

I am still waiting for my package. Am I on the bench alone?

OOOPS I made a mistake when I posted that I had received my SP pkg from starships. It was not starships but starshine, so very sorry for the mistake, sometimes I think the keyboard troll is making changes as I type.

Pat And I too would like the verse with the pocket quilt-I think I will try to make some to send to Chaplains with deployed units, one of my other activities. And also a belated Birthday wishes for Nancy and Gaijin. |
Ha Ha I thought it was cute, and figured everyone on here probably guessed who you meant anyway.;)

Oh, yes - here is the picture. The pencil is pointing to the square that holds the cross.
And hav4boys sent me this link, too: http://www.prayerquilt.org/downloads/pocket_prayer.pdf But she used small plastic bead crosses that she got from China off ebay. They have bundles of them in the buy-it-now category, pretty reasonable and free shipping. My friend and I are going to get together to make these. Always more fun with a friend! |
This is nice

I forgot to post the pictures from lauriejo's package! Silly me! And I did not mention the zipper case and the lovely vintage buttons spilling out of it! I love my large buttons!

Wow wonderful pkgs coming in! Belated birthday to those who have birthdays this mth. I've been so busy unpacking that I finally decided to not unpack anymore. In 2-3 yrs hopefully we'll be buying a home and needless to say move again so I'm not unpacking. I'll do the bare minimum. I am however signed up for the June swap! See you all there!
|
Really lovely packages coming in this month. I just signed up for next month as well.

Did anyone watch the PBS Memorial Program on Sunday night? It was absolutely outstanding. I never miss it and was fortunate enough to attend once. So very meaningful and makes me so proud to be an American. I, like many of you (I am sure), am the daughter of a veteran and also the widow of another.
|
Yes wonderful packages! Lauriejo is there a link for the tea caddy? that is really cute. So is the key chain. I signed up for June too.
Yes Sharon,(thanks for mentioning it) I saw the National Memorial Concert on Monday night as our PBS station has an auxillary channel that does Create during the day and in the evening rebroadcasts the programs that were on their regular channel from the previous night. It was moving and the personal stories really brought home the reminder of how blessed we are in our freedom and the debt to our veterans and military. And the protection too of our police and fire departments. I had 5 uncles and a brother that were veterans. I look at my efforts to write letters and send care packages as a way I can support them and show my thanks. And with this thought all of you that have family or friends that are deployed anywhere, tell them thanks for me and I do pray for all of our military that are serving our country where ever they are stationed here or abroad. |

Check out the great package I received from Jaba -- the fat quarters are gorgeous. I just want to pet them and rearrange them into different combinations ... may take some courage to actually cut them up, but I will. Have a special project in mind, JUST FOR ME (for a change). She made a great little pincushion and needle book, so no more lost needles and pins in the arm of my favorite chair. Can't have too many small scissors. Magazines are fun to look at. Missing -- one bag of Milky Ways. They are in the freezer right now, which is my favorite way to eat them ... frozen. Thanks again, Jaba, for a fantastic and very generous package. It shows that you put a lot of time and effort into your choices, which I truly appreciate.
|
Oh -- and the placemats -- they are perfect on my round kitchen table. They are a smaller size and don't overlap like the storebought ones do. The fabrics are fun to look at while drinking my morning coffee.
|
Very nice package, Nancy. Everyone is so creative with their choices!
|
Glad you like it Nancy!! Would love to see that special project when you get it done.

I received a lovely package from Lori. As my camera only wants to work with this site now and again, this is one of the again times. So I will list what she sent. I am beginning my 2nd vintage hankie quilt, (I so hope I can get my camera to work so I can post pics, as there are a few here wanting to see it), she sent me several beautiful hankies, red liquorice, box of tea bags, fabric, a homemade small fabric bowl as I would call it, (I have to try to make some of those myself), Russell Stover assortment of cakes, (which I have never seen), can't wait to try those yummies, big clips, and beautiful flower seeds, which is great as I haven't planted any flowers yet. Plus I know she is having something sent directly to me....one of my wish gifts....can't wait to see which one. Thank you so super much Lori, especially with you being so sick. Love it all!

Well I'm still on the bench. Nothing in the mail today. :( The box I sent was delivered on May 16th and I haven't heard anything from my spal ???? :(
|
Grammyj I'm so sorry to hear that you're still on the bench. I didn't participate this month but if I had and had you, you wouldn't be waiting! Hoping that you do receieve your pkg soon. And its a darn shame when one sends something out and not hear from the recipient.
|

Who is still on the bench? Getting late in the day for delivery
|
I'm still on the bench, guess I'm all by myself. :(
|
Sorry grammyj! I left you on the bench without even saying goodbye! I am making a strawberry layer cake from scratch, with fresh strwberries on top. I will send you a piece and another glass of tea!
Gaijin |
I found the tea caddy on Pinterest originally (a dangerous place!) I did finally track down the original blog post: http://mysimplewalk.com/how-to-make-...ier-or-holder/ It was the first time in ten years I used the snap tool that I inherited from my mom! Can't help with the teapot tape measure/keychain. It was sold during a tea themed shop hop so not a regular item.
