Pink Poodle Family

Well the pink poodle family is almost done. These blocks were the second swap I did last year and everyone did an awsome job on the blocks. Crafty do you see your Eiffel tower blocks and the wonderful Center block of paris......
I had an elf who put it all together for me......Jean in Oklahoma. She used the japanese sashing technique to put it together. Cathy and I are so thankful for her work. Here are a couple of pics, she just has to add the paris fabric border and Oh la la.......Thank you Jean Hugs R |

Jean explained it to me, but I will have her respond, all I can tell you is that you sew the right hand side border on the block and then sew the top sashing on top so when you sew the blocks together they all have border and sashing. Then you sew the out side sashing all the way around. I Think.
Lets see from Jean how much I remember......LOL R

FoxFlower, it is so easy and a great time saver. You cut your strips however wide you want your sashing. I usually cut mine at 2". Let's say you are making a 12 1/2" block, you will cut your strips for the LEFT side at 12 1/2" - do this for however many blocks you have. THEN, you will cut another set of pcs at 14 1/2". Now for the sewing - you will sew the 12 1/2" pcs to your LEFT side of ea block, press. You are now ready to sew the BOTTOM (sorry R, it's the bottom) strip on. Press, and all your blocks are sashed. When you put the blocks together for your rows, the sashing is already done...To finish, all you have to do is add the top and right side of sashing. This makes sashing blocks soooo easy, and none of this trying to match the upper/lower seams.
This can be done on any size block, and use any size strip for sashing. Hope this 'splains it for you..Try it, you'll like it..:thumbup: Hugs Jean
