I may try to get one done to send out. I haven’t done this before.
Welcome Darcy, I think you will enjoy this swap. You get plenty of time to make your runner and you get a beautiful runner in return. I think this is the first time I haven't gotten started right away. I really need to get started too.
Just shaking my head here, remind me never ever to pic fabric and sew when you feel lousy. The bargello is in the bin of scraps, what a mess, don't have a clue where my mind was.. outer space for sure. Found something else that I have not made so will see if this is any better.
I printed out some thing to applique onto a runner. I have done applique before but I do not think on a table runner. I haven't started yet so we will see if this will be the one. I am torn between leaf applique and christmas tree applique.
Welcome, Darcy!! This is a first time swap for me, too....
Jaba....so sorry you still don't feel well.....listen to your body and rest. Plenty of time to get a runner done. Anna...love applique and I'm doing some on my runner, too, though that's not the "new to me" thing. I decided to try my hand at crazy quilt blocks. I have a brand new collection of varigated threads and tons of decorative stitches I've never done... Adding some applique because, really, I can't seem to make anything without appliquing something. Lol.. The crazy blocks are done and just designing the runner now... Those blocks are a blast to make. |
Are we sharing pictures of "in progress and completed" runners? I wasn't sure...
No we show sneak peeks. Not a full picture of it done.

I have my fabric ready for my challenge table runner. Here's a pic

Marion I like the bright colors.
I think I would like to join in this swap. Now that I am in Ohio, I know the snow will be coming soon. I haven't had to deal with snow and ice for many, many years. I'm sure this quilter will be spending a lot more time inside.
Welcome Karen. I think you'll like it. It's not usually a really big swap so it's fun and cozy. I still haven't decided what I'm making. I need to start thinking on it.
Hi, Karen! :o Hope you settled in your new home comfortably. Enjoy a new winter season....
My table runner is ready to mail and I'm really hoping the recipient will like it. New things for me:
Crazy Quilt block; first time using varigated thread, new to me decorative stitches used throughout...and, I've never designed by own runner...always used patterns. Fun project! |
I did a new to me pattern, log cabin. I know it’s probably not new to most of you though. It helped me get ready to start piecing the 1/4 log cabin I’ve got planned for son #3.
Pamela...I've only made one LC and it was a curvy LC pattern. It's on my bucket list to make another one so I'm not far behind you on the lack of "experience" of LC. It looks like an easy block but it can go wonky quickly if not careful. Ask me how I know...lol... Probably why I haven't attempted it again. Love the look of the block so your runner is sure to please us...
Pamala I'm sure it is a beauty. Just because we have done the pattern doesn't mean we don't want it. I have made 1 king size LC and I don't have any runners with the LC. Teen I want to try a curvy LC. I think they are so pretty.

Here is my curvy. This was made for my MIL and these are her colors. She has this draped over the back of her sofa and, though, the colors do not appeal to me personally, it looks so pretty in her living room. Surprisingly, it matches every color of her sofa fabric, which was totally not planned. Lol... I just randomly selected colors in her colorway.

Maybe you ladies can help me w/ a design dilemma. I am working on this quilt for a great niece. I have run out of the pink, but my quilt is to short the way it is w/ just the cubes. I have enough to the 4 patches to put a double row (on point and alternating w/ the dark blue fabric) at the top like a "pillow border" or I can put a single row on top and bottom. I can not add any to the width (I already have the backing and it is just wide enough.
Any ideas? |
Oooops I thought I was on a different thread.

No worries Kassandra! I did see your post on the other thread. This pattern intrigues me! I think I would put a solid border as needed all the way around, sort of framing the main feature? Good luck!
Teen pretty LC. Kassandra really like the quilt so far. Maybe add a solid strip then add a row of your on point blocks.
Teen, Your curvy LC is stunning . I have never seen a LC done any thing like that .

This is my table runn er, ready to be sent. It is using the wave ruler . I made up the design as I went as half way through what I decided to do , I found I never had enough of the dark border fabric to go all around . As well the centre pattern had vegies on one side and looked uneven so I appliqued some vegies over the dark piece . At one stage I thought it wasn't going to work out. I like it I hope the receiver of it will too
Rosalyn, I like it. I haven't seen another like it at all. Good job.
R-sea....that turned out great. Amazing you sewed wavy borders with each border. That's a first for me seeing something like that. Very creative...I Love it..
I love the curvey log cabin that Teen has made and R-sea your runner is amazing and Unique I haven't started mine yet...
Love the LC! And ….. R-sea your runner is beautiful! I haven't even decided what I'm making yet! Still trying to knock out this applique/quilted wall hanging of Papa's Pickup! Will probably not make another one of these! lol
Thank you for lovely comments on my LC.
Sue...I love the truck applique you are doing.. I've had my eye on a collage motorcycle I want to do since I'm a Harley girl. They look fun to do. |
Hi Teen - I keep second guessing myself with the applique. Sometimes it seems so easy, that I must be doing something wrong! lol And then I go on to the next step, and think "what the heck are they talking about?" :) I would like to do one for my youngest grandson, but not till my runner is done! hehehe Tomorrow, is the day I start to put the applique background together - fingers crossed!

Hi Ladies,
I am so sorry I have been a little MIA..... so much going on and Emma who is rudely healthy can down with the worst case of Gastro that I have ever seen - and even thought she thinks she is all grown up (nearly 18) when the chips are down and she is unwell, she just wants her Mummy! Still although I hated seeing her unwell, I loved every minute of the cuddles she needed! So, on to business.... Jan, Elizabeth, Pamela and Anna - You are on the list. Rosalyn, Jessica and Tina, you are on the "Ready to Mail" list. Darcy and Klaws, can you send me your details so I can put you on the list please. Also ladies, if you are a regular and I keep your details, could you just remind me if you are willing to mail internationally please...... I don't automatically assume you can or will unless you are outside of the USA. Hugs to you all and I am so looking forward to this one.... I love making you all think - LOL LOL. Caroline |
Hope the gastro bug doesn't spread through the house Caroline! Fingers crossed! Well I still haven't started my runner  I have recently done a project with the tri-recs rulers & kept getting it mixed up. Maybe I"ll use those & master the darn things before they drive me crazy! lol End of December - Christmas/New Years will be past, not spring yet, the next dilemma will be fabric choices! Not an earth shattering dilemma for sure! :)
Sue... Have no idea what a tri-rec ruler is so I had to look it up. Lol... The last thing I need is another ruler but that one looks way cool.... When you master it, teach me, please!!!
Carolyn...Hope Emma is on the mend....and, we always need our mommy....at least I still do and my mommy is 87 so you can probably figure out my age...lol! Going to LQS tomorrow....may find some fun little somethings for my package to send one of you'all...*wink* |
Yay! I've finished the top and it looks Ok. Paper piecing isnt as hard as I thought it would be. Big needle and small stiches made it easier to pull out the paper. Now quilt and photograph!
Oh my goodnesss. I worked on my runner for about 1 1/2 hrs. Picked out pattern, picked fabrics. Then started it. It's a stained glass look. I love this one. I went with a winter theme. With snow on the ground and cold temps it was a no brainer. Hope everyone stays warm and safe.
Thats another I've never done, stained glass will be on the plan for next year.

Oh My Goodness. This runner has been a challenge for me. It is almost done except today I ran out of fusible bias tape. Had to go online to order some. Next stained glass is going to have black leading . The gold is very festive and pretty, but us older ladies don't see as well and the stitching shows and I have poor eyesight. The glittery lame is had on the old eyes. The picture I took is very poor as it is so cloudy today. The colors are white on white around it and the black is actually a dark green.I like the runner. Wish I had worked on stained glass prior to this swap. But that is what this months is "something we haven't done before,"so who ever gets this please remember that. I should get the bias tape by thursday and then trim up the runner and bind it. Then it ill be ready. for the unlucky partner I get. lol. I'll send a few nice goodies to make up for it.Ok.Stay warm everyone.
P.S. I'll try another picture tomorrow if the sun comes out. This one is awful. Sorry
I think this looks beautiful! I hope I get to be your partner!

That looks really cool, Mary!! This will be a stunner when revealed... Love the colors... I'm trying to figure how you do this based on the photo but I think you'll have to teach me...looks hard..
Here is a sneak peek at a crazy block used in my runner... Hoping the colors aren't a turn off for anyone but my favorite colorway is black/white and yellow... |
Adorable! The colors are wonderfully cheery.
