October 2018 to December 2018 Table Runner Swap

Hi Guys,

Welcome to our ongoing Table Runner Swap! This swap will run from 1[SUP]st[/SUP] October 2018 to the 31[SUP]st[/SUP] December 2018.

You have until the 31[SUP]st[/SUP] December 2018 to make a table runner - the theme this time is... Something you haven’t tried before. This is a method, block, applique, quilting… anything or way that you have not tried before.

Size of Table Runner

The table runner should be a minimum of 12” x 30”.
You can use any technique/ any style.
All fabrics used should be 100% cotton.
The runner must have wadding and be quilted.

Sign Up list

There is no deadline so you can sign up at any time during the 3 months as this will be just an intention to participate. When you have made and are ready to mail your runner you can then sign up to the “ready to mail” list which is binding commitment.

But please remember that the only list that counts is the Ready to Mail list posted at the end of December 2018.

Ready to Mail list

An initial Ready to Mail list will be posted around the 24th December 2018.If you are not on this list you will not get an address to send to unless you contact me and get on the final listing.

Midnight on the 31st December 2018 – is the deadline to get on the “Ready to Mail” list. If you want to take part, I will need the following:-

Real name
Your address
Whether you are willing to send international or not (Please consider this as it enables everybody to take part)
Allergy info
Pet and smoking information
Email address

As long as you have a table runner ready to mail you can join us by letting me know any time before the deadline.

Addresses Sent Out:

I will send out the name and address of the person you should send to on the 2nd or 3rd January 2019. You will have 7 days to get your table runner in the mail - No Longer. If you are unable to keep this commitment - please do not sign up.

You will send your table runner to the quilter who's address you get. You will receive from a different quilter than the one you send to.

This is not a partner swap.

Please remember that there are quilters of all abilities on this board and you should appreciate the table runner you receive as your sender will have worked hard to make it for you.

You are welcome to send some goodies in your package if you would care to, but please don't expect anything other than the table runner.

Please Note.... You must let me know when you mail and when you receive. Also, please PM the person that sends to you when you receive to say thank you and to let them know that the table runner that they have sent you has arrived - it is only polite to do so!

So come and join our fun.

Hugs

Caroline

Northern Sue 10-22-2018 04:08 PM

Count me in! No idea what I will do/make/create but there is lots I haven't tried!

Northern Sue 10-24-2018 04:42 PM

pretty quiet here - where is everyone? resting up after the summer swap? lol Has anyone decided what special project they are going to try for this swap? I'm still not sure and the first month of 3 is almost gone! yikes!

PamelaOry 10-25-2018 12:05 AM

Being a newbie, there are lots of things that are firsts for me; log cabin, Dresden plate, applique, etc., etc, etc. lol

Annaquilts 10-25-2018 07:26 AM

Is it OK to do something not so special? I am drawing a blank.

lawsonmugs 10-25-2018 07:55 AM

No Anna, the police say it has to be special..... just like me. lol. I don't have any idea either yet.

m-fay 10-25-2018 03:59 PM

Anna you can do whatever takes your fancy, just try something new that you havent done before on it such as free motion quilting, or a disappearing 9 patch or use a block you havn't tried before....look up blocks of the month. the challenge is to try something new to you. you'll do well!

Annaquilts 10-25-2018 10:50 PM

LOL m-fay I think I got my months mixed up and did the try something new last month. I think it lives at your house now. ~smile~

Teen 10-27-2018 12:51 PM

I'm hoping to participate this round..... I will do my best but, if I sell my home (fingers crossed)... I'll be moving...so, I'll try and start thinking about runner and what I haven't attempted to do yet. Goodness...talk about a challenge. Lol

ube quilting 10-28-2018 02:51 PM

I'm going to play again too. It is going to be hard to come up with something I haven't done. I think I've tried it all.

apple core is a trial unto its own.
curves
paper piecing
english paper piecing
miniature blocks
prairie points
applique- machine and hand
curved edge binding
original pattern
quilting by hand and machine

and a few I haven't thought of.

peace

m-fay 10-28-2018 05:15 PM

I've still been procrastinating. I have the pattern but apprehensive about it but tomorrow I bite the bullet and buy the fabric!

Embroidery? Drunkards path? Dresden plate? Log cabin? Blindfolded? One hand tied behin.... ok maybe I’m getting a little carried away trying to brainstorm possibilities.

ube quilting 10-29-2018 01:48 AM

Blindfolded, LOL! This would be new. Haha

I enjoy doing curves so maybe I'll try a new pattern with curves like Robbing Peter to pay Paul or the easy Cathedral Window look-a-like. There are just too many choices to make.

I am having another go at a pattern I did all wrong but turned out just different . It got sold at our craft fete so someone liked it , they didn't know it was wrong. I remember how I went wrong { I think } I might even try that again . Think, think, think

lawsonmugs 10-31-2018 06:44 AM

We sure sound sure of our selves...lol. Sounds like the blind leading the blind. This ought to be a interesting swap.

jaba 10-31-2018 08:00 AM

I'm still drawing a blank but will keep pondering until I come up with something...hopefully.
Just checking in with all of you, sorry it's been so long.
Since being in Florida, I've had to go through a battery of tests that have really taken a toll on my immune system. It's pretty much non existent at this point. I had a CT scan last week that actually left me weak in the knees and really ill from the fluid they have you drink. Now I have a cold and stomach flu that will not go away. They postponed the MRI until next Tuesday so hopefully I will be better. Not a good way to start the Florida season.
My other quilt for the Boom swap is pieced and put together, just not enough energy to get it on the machine and quilted, soon I hope.

Sounds very similar to the blind fold one. Can I be the leader when you rotary cut? Bahaha

Annaquilts 10-31-2018 11:22 AM

)))))))Hugs and prayers jaba((((((((

Teen 10-31-2018 02:44 PM

Oh goodness, Jaba....you've been thru so much recently. I declare November your month for recovery and healing... Get some rest...

Teen 10-31-2018 02:45 PM

My head is swimming with ideas....those who know me know...this could be dangerous...lol... You never know what you may end up with.

jhr58 10-31-2018 06:55 PM

yes, i want to play as well. :)

Psychomomquilter 11-01-2018 03:33 AM

I hope I am not too late for this. I'd like to have a go at this

lawsonmugs 11-01-2018 08:48 AM

Your never to late. You have until just before the names come out to make a runner and let Caroline know your ready to send. This is a quiet thread but still fun. Post anytime. We love to hear from each other.

Northern Sue 11-01-2018 03:38 PM

I love seeing the chat this time! Lol Jaba I would send you a hug emoticon if I could find the darn things!
Still no idea what I am going to make for the runner! Currently away from home again to be with my Mom who is now palliative. Loving the time I’m able to spend with her, but missing my sewing machine too. Keep throwing out more ideas - then I can go “eenie - meenie - minie - mo” lol. Have no idea if that is even spelled right!

m-fay 11-01-2018 03:56 PM

sending hugs and best wishes Jaba that they find whats wrong and fix it and hugs for you too northern sue as you spend time with your mum.

R-sea 11-02-2018 02:59 AM

I am going to have a go doing a runner with the wave ruler. I have no pattern so we'll see how it will turn out

jaba 11-02-2018 03:24 PM

I hope they get it figured out too! They tell you the cancer is gone, but the side effects of everything seems to go on and on. Just tired of feeling so lousy, it has to get better soon I hope. I’ve never made a bargello runner before so that could be what I try.

ekuw 11-05-2018 12:03 PM

I'll join again! I have been wanting to try fusible/machine applique and a runner is just the right thing to start with.

Psychomomquilter 11-06-2018 03:24 AM

at least I finally got one started. multicolored, fall, Thanksgiving & of course Christmas. I hope whoever gets this will like it. kind of rusty, so not perfection

Queenbarbiej 11-06-2018 07:09 AM

Caroline, I'm in.

I'm sure is lovely and we will love it.

I'm still undecided on what to make. I have to keep clearing and cleaning sewing room when buyers come so I haven't been very productive. Another one coming to view today. Fingers crossed..
