October Fat Quarter Swap : Christmas/blenders and a side swap too!

Better late than never (groan). My apologies for getting this sign up late I had my days mixed up. Thank you to Jaba for reminding me to um.. get my post up .. pretty please :)

OCTOBER Fat Quarter Swap is CHRISTMAS/Blenders and a side swap to boot!

This month we are swapping FIVE FAT QUARTERS in a Christmas themed print and/or Blenders to go with them. This gives some of us who are not so quick time to make something to gift for Christmas! There is a method to my madness I know it seems whacky so early but think about it if you gift something with Christmas fabric you want them to have the whole month to enjoy it :) ideas of prints are endless from Jolly old Saint Nick, Frosty the snowman, snowflakes, poinsettas, cream with swirls of gold, white with snowflakes, blue frosty prints.. think White! Red! Green! and Creams or Blacks with metallic to match your prints. Plaids? stripes? dots! the choices are endless. Make sure all swapping items are 100 percent QUILT QUALITY COTTON and that the size is a minimum of 1 fat quarter per cut. Try hard to not have a short cut. Give what you would like to receive!! I want everyone to be happy with this swap.

I am accepting sign ups for this swap until the 1st of October. I will assign PARTNERS and it is your responsibility to come back to the swap and look for the posting and notify your partner. Its usually on the first to second page. I am also accepting sign ups for an additional swap of your choosing. I will post that list of available swappers and what they have to swap. Its your job to notify me when you have heard from them and I will remove your two names from the list so your not stuck with 100 swaps! (unless you want them of course). So get excited and sign up now! We are more than willing and ready to take your sign ups :) if you write me and notice your name is not added to the list please notify me PM and I will take care of it immediately if possible. We have some who will swap more than once but not always.

Elisabrat 09-21-2014 01:57 PM

To sign up for this swap please PM me with the following information: Your name, address and what you would like to swap. Also how many you want to swap no more than two swaps per person. unlimited side swaps :)

If you only want adult Christmas/Holiday then say so. If you want novelties say so. Be as specific as you can so your partner can pick fabrics that most likely will please you. Note not everyone has both so be understanding. If someone wants adult and you don't have adult Christmas perhaps you could swap them blenders/tone on tones to replace the lack of fabric that they want. Same with novelties you don't have any? perhaps you have stripes and zig zags? open your mind to the possibilities. You might be surprised at what you do have.

kiffie2413 09-21-2014 02:51 PM

How am I 1st signer upper??? Figured Jaba would be 1st...lol

jaba 09-21-2014 06:24 PM

:) I was when I reminded Miss Brat to get it posted. I'm in for Christmas but no novelty fabric. Just don't have a reason for it anymore. I do have some here that I would gladly pass on and trade, just don't want novelty back.I'm open for side swaps also if anyone is interested.

kiffie2413 09-21-2014 10:22 PM

Just saw where you said better late than never about posting the sign up, were you late?? I don't think so...
Brat, you know I'm always telling you I don't know how you do everything you do.. and hostess this swap!

I'm with you, Jaba.. I don't really want any juvenile/novelty Christmas fabrics, I have plenty as it is.
But that being said, I told Le Bratinski that I'd be open to swap whatever (well, almost ;))

Sure hoping you get a pkg or 2 tomorrow, Jaba!!!

maps 09-22-2014 06:56 AM

Okay I am in. I love this swap an can't wait to find out each months swap. That being said I have a dumb question. What do people consider novelty Christmas vs. Adult Christmas? I asked a friend and we had 2 different ideas so I thought I better ask.

MAPS

Elisabrat 09-22-2014 08:33 AM

Adult fabric: poinsettas, trees, winter scenes, ornaments
Novelty fabric: reindeer with silly smiles, santas surfing in Hawaii... does that help?

if you want specific things you have to post with ME first please also with the side swaps send me the note you want to do those and what you want to send/receive then it will go onto a list for all to see. after I post that list your free to add to the list. just posting here does not get you on the list. I cant be everywhere (weird but true). so make sure you send me a sign up PM please thanks guys! and no swapping til we we get the list up. Period. its not fair to those who play the right way that people pair up way before the sign ups are even over. phew.

I love novelties. cute little bunnies with presents for eachother? oh yeah. also love the glittered Christmas fabrics oh big time. I really love those. sucker for sparkle. I love burgundy type reds over cherry reds most of all. you see we all love something different. make sure you let me know what floats your boat and I will make sure to pair you with someone who wants or has the same thing :) TELLME WHAT you have to trade and what you are willing to trade back. phew. got that I think. for now at least. SIGN UP TODAY and have fun with us!

kiffie2413 09-22-2014 08:50 AM

Oh Brat, metallics...I'm in heaven for those... Never met a metallic I didn't like. Even a grinning reindeer sitting at a slot machine. If it's metallic, send it right on over!

Elisabrat 09-22-2014 03:16 PM

lol me too.. I always by them by the 1 yrd because of the price but man if I could many would be in multiples of four. great thing to make a quilt out of. Last year I received this killer quilt from Robert Kaufman metallic and its stunning combined with some metallic fabrics that are blenders omg I am in love with it. nap with it every afternoon :)

I love the kid fabric too just because it reminds me of growing up. soon I will have grand children and think a few things with kid fabric will be well received. like a tree skirt or a throw for them to use while laying under that tree. That said I love the adult fabrics for home décor and vintage Christmas? oh double swoon. this is the best swap of the year LOL because one can add to their stash of oh I love that do I want to use it though? fabric that is just too great to use.. my daughter takes it and puts it stretched over a canvas each year. three that coordinate lined up festively on a wall.. then you can take the fabric off and still use it the next year! fabric is so addicting. I hope I didn't offend anyone in my post. I mean no disrespect but its easier for me (which is what counts these days) to get notifications then I simply save them in the in box til the swap and can open each one and apply it to a list very easily. so forgive me if I was too harsh there. I seriously meant no harm.

jaba 09-22-2014 05:52 PM

Kiffee just to let you know I did receive a package today from you and posted it on the correct thread. Thank you so much, think some of these will work perfect with the focal fabric that I have. Brat sent you a PM just to be official and let you know for sure.

tubsfam 09-22-2014 06:02 PM

oh what fun , I'm in too.

JAGSD 09-25-2014 11:10 AM

:( I'm going to have to pass on this month......Too much craziness going on, still medding horse though he is improving... With canning.. And going back to work one day a week, and we just started shingling the house and garage not to mention the boys games two times a week and etc..... Will miss you all! JAGSD

kiffie2413 09-26-2014 12:10 AM

We'll miss you too, JAGSD. But totally understand every now and again life gets busy, and family comes 1st.
Take it from me, even though it can get crazy with sons in sports, etc..I never realized how fast time would pass.
My awesome Nanny (grandma) used to tell me, "Kan, enjoy that boy, as time flies!".
Well at that time, I listened to her, but I didn't really listen..as it seems like yesterday my son was in middle school, then high school, and we were at basketball, baseball, track... And now he's 29, and I have 2 grandbabies.
I often stop and reminisce, where did the time go??!!...
Kif

Elisabrat 09-26-2014 09:38 AM

Oh heck me too Kiff. I thought I had FOREVER. I was once at the park with the two little boys of mine and said to the woman on the bench next to me "God I wish they would grow up faster" and she said.. "your wishing your life away. enjoy it now because it flies so quickly" . I was quietly stunned. and for me that is a big thing the quiet part. I just didn't get it. boy do I get it now. I am so lucky for the time I had with the kids. I am lucky for the time I get now with them even if it kills me. Next month two of them come out to visit me at the same time. gulp. three guests in my tiny home is going to be interesting. one is bringing a boyfriend with her. oh lucky me! I have it planned however tons of things to can in my freezer waiting her arrival. a boyfriend to help? all the better. can what you want take it with you when you go and I am one happy person. ok send it on home so its there when you get there. apparently they frown on things like glass and fluids on planes now. lol. she is a baker so she wants compote (whatever that is) to use on her cakes. go for it! stay out of my hair! egad I sound older than dirt. not really but dialysis take some of the spirit out of me at times.

OK now to fun things! sign on up hurry up! your got time but oh so not much! think of the beautiful things you could make for Christmas. sometimes we buy things we love at the time but maybe not so much later? here is your chance to trade them with another player who might just think they are new and wonderful so give it a chance! If you send this in a 5 x7 envelope and have 5 fat quarters it tends to run about 3.50 or so (ok your sending CA to NY its going towards the oh so range). some are less. some a tiny bit more but that's not much for the fun you have and the joy that your partner receives so SIGN ON UP!

kiffie2413 09-27-2014 05:23 AM

Agree,
Sign up, sign up, sign up.. we're really a nice group of gals...really! Really!
And it's so much fun to get that lil pkg in the mail, tear it open (or nicely open it, remove mailing label, re-use envelope..save a lil money, and the environment..). Ooh and aaah over the fqs...

K

Elisabrat 09-29-2014 10:56 AM

TWO days left to sign up! think its sounds so EARLY to swap these but honestly you might not even receive them til almost Nov. which is very little time to put them to good use. So Christmas is a bit early yes its true but if you don't like Christmas this early its FINE! do a side swap of any type fabric of your chosing and sign up for this with me! I will post the regular swappers and the side swappers as soon as all have registered.

I am thinking mug rugs with this months swap. easy fast and a cute gift you could make with holiday fabric with a couple tea bags and a cute mug... just saying so many possibilities. think: table runners, wall hangings, Christmas stockings, pot holders, wall hangings, wine bags.. so many things to make and gift...

Elisabrat 09-30-2014 04:20 AM

LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP!!! this is the last day before sign ups close! We are trading Christmas prints, reds, whites and green blenders and a free swap sign up for any fabric you have. This is a great swap and I hope you sign up today!

kiffie2413 09-30-2014 07:24 AM

Come one...come all...come on...it's Fall... (the season I mean)
The swap...this month...might involve...some green...
Or red...white...silver...or blue...a Santa...a snowflake...a Christmas tree...or two...
Okay, I'm so NOT a poet, and yep, I know it!
Just a gal..who loves..this fq swap...
So sign up...and just maybe...my bad rhyming...Will stop...
Temporarily. Lol

It can't be just me!

I have pm'd my partners. SO busy today. Hopefully will get time to search for swapping fabs tonight.

jaba 10-01-2014 08:43 AM

SheriR, I'll swap with you if you need a partner, don't want you getting lonesome :) Just let me know

kiffie2413 10-01-2014 05:37 PM

SheriR,
Brat and I were just wondering about you...glad to see you here!!
I'm happy to swap with you too...just pm me.

Um, Tlambing, I have to agree with Jaba, maybe you've had a rough week...lol...
After I read your post, I did remember one of the ladies in my quilt group bought some of that Alexander Henry fabric, think it had the "Beefcakes" with Santa hats. Sorry, but I laughed, and told her she's a "cougar"! She's so funny she just "meowed" at me...lol

I'm just old, I guess. There's a fire department across the street from my lqs. Sometimes the gals tease about going and quilting outside when the firemen are outside as well. For me, all I picture is my son and his friends. When my son was in high school, our house was the hangout, I felt like a mom to several teens instead of just one.
I tell my quilt friends, "No thanks, I just can't go there". I'm the youngest of our group, yet they call me the fuddy duddy. Yep, that's me, chief fuddy duddy and proud of it!

Off to pm my other 2 partners...

Sorry for double pics posts, I tried to go in and edit to delete one, but on my Kindle I keep having to re log on to the board, and it wouldn't let me delete one. Or I'm just not savvy enough...lol
Peg likes Christmas caroler fabric, and I just happened to have some...told her I would post a lil pic.
But this is all the sneak peek I'll show, I know some people like the surprise aspect...
Regards all,
K

PeginCO 10-01-2014 09:02 PM

Fun! I'll pm.

Elisabrat 10-02-2014 04:18 AM

sounds like you guys are getting ready to swap! that means .... PICTURES! don't forget to take pictures of what you send so if your partner does not have a camera you can post for them.

note: I just started a mug rug swap due Dec 1st for shipping so you might just want to check it out. its an easy smaller project can be completed in no time and would make someone smile. just in time for Santas milk and cookie plate.... ;) actually its not Christmas themed fabric but made out of regular fabric so it can be used all year round... but santa wouldn't mind at all promise!

hairquilt 10-02-2014 05:18 AM

SheriR, I would love to swap with you-You have the most gorgeous fabric I've seen! PM me if someone else hasn't already nabbed you! LOL! The block swap I was in is no more for a few months so I can do more other swaps! Tlambing has contacted me & we are swapping repros! Yea!
