I like them both too. The bright one I love but the tan one I'd use more. You're very talented Ube.

CarolinePaj 11-10-2016 08:15 AM

I too love them both... but again the tan one really goes with my colour scheme!

Hugs

Caroline

lovethemgreys 11-12-2016 06:54 PM

I love both of the runners, Ube, but the tan one would be my first choice.

marietta 11-12-2016 09:12 PM

Seems so far I'm the odd man out, lol...
Aww Caroline, Sorry, The one I sent you, All that purple lol, must be an odd man out also :-)
Please feel free to pass it along to someone else. Seriously, no use keeping something in which the color doesn't agree with you, your style or scheme.
I need to get busy and finish my runner, and pm you .....
So some of you can nervously wait to see if I get your name to send a glaringly Bright jingle hoho candycane snowman wintry Christmas runner :-)
Sorry, apologize, It's late and I have a strange and wicked sense of humor at times. ha

Belfrybat 11-14-2016 07:28 AM

THis is my first time on this swap and am a bit confused that M-Fay already received a runner? I thought names weren't to be given out until December. Or am I confused?

I've almost finished the runner -- just need to sandwich and quilt it. It should be finished by tomorrow and I'll PM Caroline to let her know.

Ube Quilting: I really like the taupe runner.

ube quilting 11-14-2016 10:46 AM

Ha ha! Belfrybat, nothing to worry about. That is what m-fay received in the last swap. She is in Australia and it takes a while to get through customs sometimes. She was also away from home for a while. She posted it in the current swap because we are done in the last one and no one would see it. Some times this happens when we do long distance swaps. But it is so much fun to ship around the world.

Hi Guys,

Not ignoring you all...... Just in the middle of the Indian Ocean in the Maldives at the moment!! (See pic below)

Marietta, I absolutely love what you sent....!!!

I will be back home on the 28th - so in plenty of time to organise the swap! Keep the pictures and messages coming!

ok I will have to opt out of this swap! Disastrous results with my FMQ on my runner! Driving me crazy! My practice sandwich is fine, the top of my runner looks pretty good but the back of it looks like it is going to fall apart! Grrrr! Have changed tension, tried floating and spring action both! I just don't have time to make another one! It's been one of those weeks, and its only Tuesday! I'll be back for the next one!

ube quilting 11-22-2016 12:52 PM

Northern Sue, sorry to hear of your disappointment. Can you show a picture of the quilting problem? Maybe there is an alternative. If the back is eye lashing and or the stitches not buried in the quilt, the stitching should be easy to remove and then maybe you could just do the old fashion tying method of finishing. It might be a minor set back but fixable.

Sometimes you find the way through.

Caroline, this is a most beautiful respite from winter. TFS

Most of the runner is completed. I've been doing it at night while watching TV and obviously my lighting is not adequate. When my practice sandwich looked good, I just went with it! Dumb move!

Belfrybat 11-22-2016 01:43 PM

It doesn't look all that bad to me -- just a bit loose. This is a table runner, not an heirloom quilt. As long as the stitches are fine in the front, I'd finish it. I for one would be happy to have something stitched like I see in the above example.

Northern Sue 11-22-2016 01:50 PM

Really? I see such beautifully finished projects on QB & I feel like I'm cheating by only doing SITD! But I better go back to that! My practice sandwich looks pretty darn good, but I can't make them into a runner! lol

CarolinePaj 11-22-2016 06:05 PM

Sue,

stop comparing your work with others.... It is like comparing apples and oranges, just not a good idea. I have examples of your work and it is amazing! I love my table runner which I use frequently!!!!!! I like to give them all a go so I rotate them! Yours is beautiful. Now how would life be if I spent it comparing myself to a supermodel.... Pretty miserable I think - so I don't do it........ so you please stop comparing you work with others. Finally, there is nothing wrong with our trusted favourite SITD!!!!

Hugs

Caroline

ube quilting 11-22-2016 06:20 PM

Northern Sue, finish it. It is fine. I am with belfrybat and Caroline on this opinion. I am looking forward to seeing your finished runner in the swap. I love the backing fabric.
peace

m-fay 11-23-2016 06:33 AM

Caroline the maldives would be like paradise! Northern Sue, I agree with belfry bat, it looks ok to me and I would be glad to receive it. I have a friend who says she's amish....her work is not perfect but its the best she could do. What more can you ask?

lynnie 11-23-2016 01:41 PM

Sue, what are you seeing wrong?
(I'm not seeing anything wrong)

Northern Sue 11-23-2016 05:42 PM

ok, ok! lol

You are so right, and I stand corrected! :) I was disappointed in myself because for some reason I assumed I could watch all the videos, do practice sandwiches until the cows come home, and ta da! I would have mastered a new skill! Hmmmm .... not quite that easy! However, I really appreciate all the encouragement from everyone, so I will be happy to include the runner in the current swap!
If any of your are celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow, have a fantastic day!
PS: Gonna put my big girl panties on and keep practicing! I might make a quilt out of practice sandwiches .... hmmm, now that's a thought! :)

ok putting the binding on my "special" (lol) runner today, but this is a peak at the front side! It was supposed to be seasonal, but there are some reindeer and peace & joy in there too!

m-fay 11-24-2016 03:37 PM

It looks beautiful...send it to me

lawsonmugs 11-24-2016 04:43 PM

That's really pretty Sue. Good job. I'm just learning free motion quilting and mine is really bad.

ube quilting 11-24-2016 04:55 PM

Bravo Sue, there is always a way through from dilemma to delight! Sweet peek of fabrics too.

Northern Sue 11-25-2016 09:13 AM

I would love to .... but I can't skip the process! lol Maybe you will be my "mail to ...." :)

Northern Sue 11-25-2016 09:14 AM

FMQ - it seems if the front looks ok then the back looks like a nightmare! Too bad we can't do each side separately! lol

Northern Sue 11-25-2016 09:18 AM

Today, I printed off the first clue for the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt. It's a future project (so far!) I'm still "challenged" by the 365 Challenge, making slab blocks/quilt tops for the Big Quilt Bee, and then I'm also making the blocks for the 150 Canadian Women celebrating Canadian women for next years 150th birthday. We haven't been able to eat off the table for about 3 months now; and I still have to finish my foundation paper pieced queen sized quilt top! Good grief! I might not have time for Christmas!!!!!

ube quilting 11-25-2016 01:37 PM

Sue, you are very busy. I am saving the MQ instructions for a later date too.

Northern Sue 11-25-2016 04:31 PM

I retired from nursing almost 3 years ago now. All my favorite hobbies kept getting pushed aside because of work obligations/commitments. When I retired? I love the time to spend on my hobbies - I sew every single day unless I'm away at the grandkids. My sewing machine even comes camping & to the cottage with me in the summer! My husband is quite content to eat in front of the TV and do lots of the cooking! How did I ever have time to work? lol

m-fay 11-26-2016 09:27 PM

I want to try the bonnie hunter mystery as well, but I willl save the clues till I have the time.

m-fay 11-30-2016 02:56 AM

I'm here ready for my name. Just have to put it on the parcel and I'm off to the post office.

Oh, I hope I didn't mess up the swap. But I do have an excuse. I can't stop looking out my windows and I get carried away to other worlds.

These six beauties were admiring themselves in the garage door glass.
They couldn't tear themselves away and neither could I.

I hope this day dreaming doesn't cost me a spot.:(

m-fay 12-01-2016 03:36 AM

Wild turkeys. Awsome!

m-fay 12-01-2016 06:26 PM

Only 7 hours till the post office closes for the weekend. I'll keep checking.

m-fay 12-01-2016 06:33 PM

Got my name and I'm off to the post office.

ube quilting 12-01-2016 07:02 PM

I have my name. My runner will be taking wing against the wind like a magic carpet into the west from Pa.
oh boy!
peace

m-fay 12-02-2016 05:15 AM

If mine goes against the wind it will be travelling NW but if it goes with the wind it'll go NE. The distance is about the same either way, so maybe NE will be quicker. Eithe way, the journey has begun.

marietta 12-02-2016 05:54 AM

:( Didn't make the deadline this time, due to Life getting in the way! Crossing my fingers things will settle down and get back to normal (whatever that is lol) after the first of the year. And I can join for the next swap.
I hope (expect lol ) to see pics of all of ya'lls to be envious of. Stay warm, Be safe, hugs.
