Both very pretty, love em. Thanks for posting pics

Northern Sue 12-11-2016 08:59 AM

Love the runners! Can't wait to see more!

jaba 12-11-2016 09:12 AM

Glad you like it Anoka, I loved making it for you. Waiting for mine to arrive so I can use it...

ube quilting 12-11-2016 12:40 PM

Hey jaba, I was wondering, knowing you spend winter in FL, is your mail automatically forwarded from WY? There are many people who go south in winter and was wondering how to go about having mail sent to a second home. Thanks for any info you could share.
peace

jaba 12-11-2016 02:38 PM

For the swaps I just put in the new address, lots of people have the mail forwarded but I bought prepaid envelopes and are having our house sitter mail the extra to us. Other than that I have auto withdraw on "important " stuff on my bank account

Belfrybat 12-13-2016 05:36 AM

Both table runners look fabulous. I especially like the one with stars.

I have a question for those who shipped overseas from the US. What method did you use? I just shipped a lightweight package (under a pound) to Canada and the cheapest rate I found was $15.xx. It would have been over $22.00 to send to Australia or Europe. That seems excessive to me.

marietta 12-13-2016 07:37 AM

I've shipped several times to UK, Ireland and most recently to Germany. Because of the weight all went priority, least expensive Uk, most expensive Ireland. I can't remember how much any were except the latest to my nephew in Germany, the package was 7 lb and it cost $60.65 :D And yes lol it was more expensive to ship him his goody Christmas box than the stuff I crammed in there ha. But for me....I knew aprox cost before I signed up to ship international ( I worked for years as the asst manager of a fabric store and oversaw the shipping dept) I plan and budget lol....Is why it takes/took me so long to sign up for anything.
Today I am shipping a box to Austin for my best friend , she had to go up, her daughter had an emergency c-section and she's needing to stay awhile, anyway am shipping her clothes and meds, etc.....Now the drive to Austin from my house is roughly 4 hrs.... By the time i get thru standing in line and paying to have it shipped at USPS, it will have cost more, I'm sure than any international I've ever sent...Cheaper to just drive it up LOL (The times I have shipped stateside from UPS...well it has always been more expensive than USPS and the closest UPS to me is about 30 to 40 min away.)
Nowadays everything is expensive. I couldn't send overseas all the time...But a couple of times a year...Yes.
Sorry I know I rambled more than answered your question lol.

Anoka Quilter 12-13-2016 10:45 AM

I get more partners overseas than Canada put it usually cost me between $22-$30 to mail over the pond. Again, I don't do it all the time, but I do try to say yes at least 3-4 times a year. I figure it is only fair to take my turn.

In doing the ornament swap I mailed out two lightweight envelopes as prizes overseas and each one cost me $13.50. One was to Australia and another to Ireland.

The table runner I just mailed overseas cost $22.50.

I do find that the USPS is the cheapest. Forget Fed-Ex. You will have a heart attack when they tell you the amount.

I finally found this thread! I kept looking for the the thread that was a call to participate in the Christmas/Holiday runner swap so I could comment, but could not find it. At any rate I received my runner from lovethemgreys, but am having difficulty getting a picture to post. Will work on that again. Her runner was absolutely amazing so I have to share. Ube, I am so glad you like the runner! I know it was simple, but I had a limited amount of that Christmas fabric that matched:-)

m-fay 12-15-2016 03:27 AM

my runner has arrived in the country it was bound for. That took 13 days. so its almost there.

Here is a picture of the runner I received from "lovethemgreys". It's just so fabulous I can hardly put it into words :-) I also received a cool bookmark and a couple of holiday fabric fat quarters. I am so glad I participated and would encourage more QB members to as well.

Anoka Quilter 12-15-2016 12:00 PM

It is always great to have someone new join us. There are a lot of great swaps on this board. I for one am in several of them.

jaba 12-15-2016 12:21 PM

ekuw, that is beautiful! I'm sure you will enjoy using that one. Still waiting for mine to arrive.

ube quilting 12-15-2016 01:32 PM

How long does it take for mail to get from WY to FL, jaba?

lawsonmugs 12-15-2016 01:39 PM

Those trees are so cute. Looks simple but so cute. Sometimes less is so much more.

ube quilting 12-15-2016 01:48 PM

A very pretty runner from Lovethemgreys. Lucky you, ekuw.

marietta 12-15-2016 02:04 PM

Love the runner ekuw and lovethemgreys

5 days ube but if you are my secret sender and you mailed to Wyoming then longer. I sent in my Florida address but if you didn't get it then my house sitter sends mail every other week. She told me today I had a package in the mail and she will send it on tomorrow......I should receive next Wednesday or Thursday

Belfrybat 12-15-2016 06:25 PM

I just heard from Lovethemgreys and she still doesn't have the runner I sent. It was delivered last Thursday to her house in CO, but she moved to Texas and apparently didn't leave a forwarding address. So it's floating around somewhere. So disappointing.

lynnie 12-15-2016 06:49 PM

beautiful tree runner. so serene

Hi Guys,

I received my table runner from Anoka Quilter about 30 minutes ago... it is so fabulous!!! See pictures below. The quilting is amazing, so I just had to show pictures of it... makes mine look so naff! Not only did she send an amazing runner she sent chocolate santas (always welcome in this house), christmas buttons and a beautiful christmassy jewel tones fat quarter that I will certainly be able to make use of!

Now, I have been reading the discussion about mailing overseas and I would just like to say a huge THANK YOU to all the ladies and gents that agree to mail overseas. People that agree to mail outside of the US enable people like myself, Northern Sue and M-fay to participate in these lovely swaps. But please understand, it is not just about the items that we send.... we make friends through these swaps. So please know that you are appreciated!

But just a quick heads up on the international shipping thing.... if you are sending internationally it may be worth you checking out an international flat rate envelope. My daughter ships items to me this way. You can ship a huge about in a flat rate to the UK for 23.95 - DD packs one of these like you cannot imagine - LOL.

Now... how about a January to March swap with a springtime theme.... or if anybody else has an idea for a theme, just drop me a quick PM.

I will keep an eye on here as I always do... just to see the beautiful runners that we send.

Hugs

Caroline

I am so ready for springtime!

A wonderful TR from Anoka. The ribbon border makes this one dance.

I really like to do international but I have to save my pennies till I get enough to send international so I can only do it occasionally. Maybe for the spring exchange.:D

The ice storm making its way across the country has landed at my house. Rain, sleet, snow, yuck. Be safe every one.
peace

lawsonmugs 12-17-2016 07:31 AM

That is a very pretty runner. I love the border and the snowmen fabric. I didn't make it this time for the swap and would love a springtime runner swap.

lynnie 12-17-2016 08:44 AM

i too, love the runner. I might be interested in a runner too.
Mary, lets be partners in our own swap!!!

Anoka Quilter 12-17-2016 10:00 AM

Ube, I do not volunteer for International every time. But I do put my name out there a few times a year. I am also a regular for the SP swap every month and will try to do International at least twice a year for that one. I will do International for the Ornament Swap and will do at least once a year for the TR.

So I have another question about International. If you are in the UK is it considered International to send to Australia? How about Scotland or Ireland?

Anoka Quilter 12-17-2016 10:02 AM

I like the idea of a springtime theme. Bright cheery colors would be welcomed by those of us who live in winter climates.

lawsonmugs 12-17-2016 10:09 AM

Sounds good Lynnie. I would still do one on here as after Christmas things will slow down for the long winter.

m-fay 12-17-2016 02:10 PM

Count me in too. I like the idea of a spring one too. So far I've only done ss and this one. I like international as I get to know more people but I like doing local as well....less postage ,so more in the parcel.

Hi Ube,

Okay here in the rundown of postage from the UK...

Inland Mail (Cheapest)
Scotland is classed in inland unless it is one of the outer islands.... so domestic rates apply.
Northern Ireland is considered part of the UK so again domestic rates apply.

Europe
Southern Ireland (Eire) even if it is only one step over the border from Northern Ireland, is considered Europe which is a different region and more expensive. This region also includes the rest of the European Union.

World Zone 1
This covers USA and Canada, Africa, South America. To mail to these places is more expensive than Europe.

World Zone 2
Australia and New Zealand - slightly more expensive than Zone 1.

So to give an example... a small parcel between 750g and 1Kg would cost (size is a consideration also)
Domestic £3.35
Europe £8.35
Zone 1 £13.05
Zone 2 £14.00

At present that is not too bad from a US point of view as the pound is so weak against the dollar, but if taking an average exchange rate , mailing the above to the US would cost about $22. But the package can only be certain dimensions. If it goes over said dimensions even by a few millimetres higher rates apply.

Hope this helps.

Caroline

Girls all of your table runners are so pretty.:)

Anoka, I have some of that fabric of the snowmen, and it's so cute with sparkles.

m-fay 12-18-2016 05:18 AM

Caroline do we have to pm you if we're in for spring?

Northern Sue 12-18-2016 10:19 AM

Hi everyone! Beautiful runner from Anoka! I don't mind shipping international, but at times, I will choose to send via regular post due to the cost! That is a great idea about the flat rate envelopes - I did this for one swap, but forgot las time! lol
A spring swap sounds great, although I have to say that a January to March swap will see me still in the dead of winter in Northern Ontario! We are heading off on Weds for the coming holidays - time for hugs from the grandkids! So I'm trying to finish off some projects before we leave - finished off a FPP queen size quilt this time so its gone to the LAQ, & today I hope to finish off a quilt as you go quilt that I started in the summer. Somewhere in there I have to do the Christmas cards & wrap gifts; but I keep going back to the sewing machine! (sigh) :)
Hoping everyone enjoys the coming winter/summer months wherever you are! Stay warm or cool as needed! (Our wind chill this am was minus 40 Celsius!!!) lol

Belfrybat 12-18-2016 03:32 PM

Lovely table runners coming in. I'm anxiously waiting mine, and given the length of time, figuring I'm getting a foreign friend in my house.
I would be very interested in a Spring swap, especially since I have tons of Texas floral fabric. I'm in a wall hanging swap around that time and so it would be easy to add a table runner to that.

CarolinePaj 12-18-2016 05:39 PM

Hi Guys,

It's nice to know who intends to take part, so a PM is nice, but as always, only the ready to send PM commits you to the swap. This means that should life get in the way for some reason you are not committed u till you have actually made the runner and are ready to mail.

Hugs to you all.

Caroline

lovethemgreys 12-19-2016 07:30 AM

A spring runner would be fun!! I'm in!

Lovely runners everyone!!

m-fay 12-19-2016 07:34 AM
