The spring swap was a huge success so lets have a summer swap!!!!!!

We will swap sets of 50 1.5" squares from different quilt fabrics cut into 1½ inch squares. Please send what you would like to receive.

You can cut your squares from yardage, fat quarters or from your scrap basket. As long as there are 50 different squares in each pile you are OK.

It seems to work best if you put the little squares in zip lock baggies the snack size and label them with your board name.

Sets are due to me by June 30. I will then swap them out and send them to you.

Signup closes on June 13, 2010. If you are interested let me know, and how many sets you think you would be interested in trading.

In the spring swap we had over 12 people participate so no one got duplicates. Hopefully we will have as many people join again so I am setting the limit to ten sets.

When you send me your sets send me a SASE with enough postage for me to send you the same number of sets you sent me.

Please make sure I have your sets by June 30, 2010.

Questions let me know! Send me a PM so I can get you on the list. I have also added this to the groups.

Missi 04-08-2010 07:27 AM

To see who is swapping, how many sets, dates mailed, etc. check the page for us under group activities. It is a great way to keep me organized and if I have to double post I can see missing something somewhere :) Here is the link

I'm in for 4 sets! I want to practice some FMQ and this will be a perfect way to do it! I keep trying to do this but only seem to have really large quilts to practice. I need to start much smaller!

KarenBarnes 04-09-2010 08:59 AM

Free Motion Quilting (As soon as I get my machine in the shop to free the feed dogs!)

Missi 04-09-2010 01:18 PM

I posted this yesterday and there are already 8 people swapping I am soooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!

KarenBarnes 04-09-2010 02:25 PM

Missi,
I'm going to be able to do the 10! Yeah for cleaning out some of my misc stash!

TammyD 04-09-2010 02:33 PM

I would like to participate in the 1.5 inch swap. Any rules as far as what kind of fabric or color ? I am not sure how many sets? So please sign me up. Thanks.

STAR 04-09-2010 04:12 PM

ok I am in again. now I really want to do a quilt with these little squares. I have alot on my list but this should be fast and easy. I am not sure how many sets yet though.

goldendog55 04-09-2010 05:05 PM

I just got my blocks from the other swap. It was lots of fun, so I will do it again. Sign me up for at least 4 sets.

ruacajun2 04-10-2010 07:39 PM

I'm interested. That means 50 1.5" squares placed in a bag. Not every bag has to be the same colors, right?

ruacajun2 04-10-2010 07:41 PM

I think I will send 6 bags.

booklady 04-11-2010 11:15 AM

I'd like to join this one. Not sure how many just yet, but will let you know in the next few days. I'll need to do this right away as we're recarpeting and painting several bedrooms (including the sewing room) so all must be finished before that starts! But then I do better with deadlines!

oksewglad 04-11-2010 01:39 PM

Missi--sent you a PM to update number. Just posted a sampling of what I'm doing with my 1.5's

Missi, I found far more than 10 sets but am willing to start small! :) They go out tomorrow! My DH fixed my machine so now I can practice that FMQ! Gotta love him!

MegsAnn 04-11-2010 06:21 PM

I'm in for at least 3 sets. I don't know if I can do more than that yet, but can definately come up with 3. How fun!

Missi 04-12-2010 06:04 AM

I am sew excited to do this again we already have a dozen swappers !!!!! Check the swap page under the ongoing swap section - link on page one - to make sure I have you on the list and the correct number of swaps.

Also - Please make sure and put your board name on your baggies. This helps me tremendously when I swap them out so someone doesn't get two sets from you or you don't get your own back.

msquilter59 04-12-2010 07:26 PM

Sign me up! I sent you a PM. Mary B MS

I thought this swap ended in April. Did I miss something? or am I on the wrong page???

letsquilt 05-04-2010 02:28 AM

Missi, I have a question, Are we suppost to do 50 different colors for each set? I'm thinking about this one but I need to know how many different colors I'm suppost to do.

Each set just needs to be 50 different fabrics. They could be 50 different shades of pink - it doesn't matter so long as they are all from different fabric. The ten sets can be identical cause I will give them to 10 different people. Hope that helps!

lucylockett--I'm working on a nine patch with the squares I got and some of my own. It will be a charm quilt. Here's the posting.

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-42414-1.htm

I'm planning on expanding with the 6 sets I'm getting in June!

lucylockett 05-06-2010 09:32 PM

Oksewglad,
Thanks for the link. Your quilt is absolutely charm ing! I've sent Missi a pm to join. Now to find 50 fabrics to cut 10 little squares from . . . sort, stack, put each grouping of squares into a snack-size baggie. Then I'll have Ten Little Baggies ready for the mail . . . Have I got the general idea, here?

MegsAnn 05-06-2010 11:35 PM

Yeah you've got the general idea luckylockett. What I did is start with the scrap basket and chop some of that stuff into tiny squares. I had to supplement with a few fabrics from my yardage, but most of 'em were in the scraps.

ScrapQuilter 05-07-2010 08:18 PM

I am wondering if there is room for one more person in this swap....... me.

kclausing 05-08-2010 07:26 AM

do all the fabrics have to be cotton? I just counted my fabrics, I probably only have 50 different fabrics, but not all are cotton.

I only have yardage, I kept giving my scraps away. Didn't realize how much fun i could have with scraps.

Some of those fabrics sure look familiar :)

We are swapping 100% cotton, no flannel. We say swap what you would like to receive. I have been through most of my scraps so I have been cutting from yardage lately. I did get a nice shoe box full of scraps at retreat last month that I need to cut, but lately I have been cutting from yardage. When I cut out a quilt I square up my fabric with a 1.5" strip.
