hmmm some of mine arrived without names on them!
I took photos of each block and then taped the names on the back.
That's a good idea. I hadn't even thought of doing that.
I like that idea. A scrapbook or album with pics of individual blocks and names and a finished quilt would be great.
The more I think about what to do with the names, the more I think I'll get get out my pigma pen and write the makers name on each block.. I may use blue.. that would look nice.. No matter what it's going to be one beautiful quilt!
Maybe we should consider that when we are swapping, to put our names and date, block swap on the back of each block we make in the pigma pen......what does anyone else think?
I think it is a good idea if it can be in the seam allowance or if it doesn't show through to the front. I try to do it as blocks are received but I still get lost sometimes with big swaps!

Wow, you guys did such a great job with the RWB swap! I'm enjoying seeing all of your beautiful block collections, and am so sorry I didn't join this one. Next time for sure.
I am going to put it together with a embroideried border around each block with the screen name and location of the contributor. I figured that it would be a good way to tye some of the fabrics together and to memorialize everyone who put thier time and creativity into the project. I saved my trial block to put on the back of the quilt as my own little label.
I have one block that was not labeled. My camera is indisposed at the moment, so I will post later. Nice job everyone! |
That's a nice idea.

I am trying to locate the maker of this block. If it is yours, please pm me with your name and location. Many thanks ;)
That would be mine. I found the labels all cut and ready to be put on each block (after I had gone to the post office). Thats what the stress of moving to another country does to you.
I received one of these also with no name. It's a beautiful block and I would love to give credit to the maker on my quilt label. Thanks

Just wanted to share what I got. I will post in the pictures section when I get it put together with my embroideried border.
Thanks to Deb for her work and to everyone who contributed such awesome blocks! |
No worries. I just moved across the US so I can imagine what your dealing with right now. Again, thanks ;)

Hello everyone, I hope this is the right place to post a picture of what we did with our blocks from this swap. I have a dear friend who lives in Michigan. We went thru grade school and high school together, in each others weddings, etc. We lost track of each other, found each other, lost track again, then re-connected on Facebook 2 years ago. We have not seen each other in 47 years. In June on one of my speaking engagements to Michigan she drove 4 hours to stay the week with me. We had a great time catching up, sharing memories, etc. Now, today, she and her husband will be here in San Antonio. For the past 2 weeks I have been working on this quilt for her. She and I decided in June to make each other something special. She crochets and is bringing me a R,W & B throw she made and I promised her a R,W & B quilt. One of the many things we still have in common is that we are both very patriotic and we love our country. So I told her about our forum and the swaps we do. I told her this quilt I made for her had blocks made from all over the country! One more bit of trivia for this quilt. Her youngest daughter is a manager of a large hotel chain and has given her a bunch of 100% Egyption cotton duvet covers, which she gave to me. I used one of these for the borders, the batting, the backing and the binding for her quilt. It has a certain luscious feel to it that she will love. I hope you all enjoy this quilt's story and the part you all played in it!
Peace and Prayers |
Beautiful quilt and nice story. I will be extra special to her. Great job.
Such a great story. I am sure she will be pleased to receive this lovely quilt. It makes me proud just to see my block in it.
I still have mine to put together. Hope you have a super great time together. |
That is such a Wonderful story. It's always fun to catch up and re-connect with old friends. And "YAY" I see my block on there as well. How Fun!!!!
I love the story, I love the quilt and I love seeing one of my blocks in it. I am sure your friend will treasure it.
Thanks for sharing the special story. I really like the blocks done in an all white setting. Nice job!
What a nice job! I have my top finished by haven't gotten to the quilting part yet -- too many other projects needed to jump ahead. You have a lovely story too. I am sure your friend is going to be so excited once she sees it.

wonderfull story and I see my block. here is what I did with the blocks I rec'd. This goes to a man I used to help to take care of. I told him I would make him one. It is a lap size. He gets cold easy so this will be perfect for him.
purplesharon, what a neat setting you've done. I never would have thought of using blocks as corners. I really like that.
I love the way you set the blocks. I think I have been inspired. Looks great.
I agree! The blocks on the corners are very cleaver!! Great Job!
This lay out only needs 12, 12 1/2" blocks to make a lap. As you see it goes together very fast.
Great quilts, and pretty afghan!
Great job Sharon!!! And I see my block in there, heehee.
