Hey Friend . . . . Don't do what I did. . . .JC . . . whatever you do. . . . , read the construction instructions . . . . just because it's cute - doesn't make it fun to put together.

The last round was my first & a picked the block "Friday the 13th." I picked it because it was pretty, but,
it was a beast ! ! ! ! I didn't read the directions. I just printed them off & shipped them. That block had partials seams & not very "seam" friendly. Thank goodness, these ladies were gracious enough not to yell at me & ban me from the Quilt Board. At the end of the day, I received a few completed blocks and, the block was scrapped & I accepted blocks that the Swappers chose to do.

I have my block picked out. Now I need to get the fabric cut and ready.

It was a challenge but I did it. Hope you liked it

oldcatlady 06-21-2014 12:44 PM

I picked Brasstown Star from Quilters Cache. It is really easy but has a big WOW factor. I have my fabric, I just need to wash it and cut it up. I guarantee everyone has the matching fabric in their stash already! :)

I designed an entire quilt around my choice. I signed up for 2 spots in here so that I have 24 blocks taken covered.

TheMamaHauser 06-21-2014 06:27 PM

That was supposed to end with "24 of the 28 12.5" blocks taken care of" but I got interrupted and the iPad decided what I was trying to say (and got it wrong).

Also, because I am a control freak (and acknowledge it) I'm going to send both fabrics. I feel like I've worked with you ladies enough in the past that you've come to accept (and possibly expect) this quirk.

GP ...I so remember this block....my version should have been named the "Disappearing Block" . The more I tried to correct it ...the smaller it became. I finally decided that sleep was the only cure for my confusion". You were great about it! Thanks for the patience and understanding. I will do better by you this time! :)

Nelco thanks so much. waiting to hear from the group leader if I am accepted yet. crossing fingers thought!

urgodschild2 06-25-2014 08:55 PM

Sorry I have been MIA. Been out of town and just got back. Well we have out 13 people, which means that we will make 12 blocks. I am going to close the acceptance time down and we can mail out our fabric to me. Will PM my address to one and all. I need them in my hands by July 7th. I will then send them back out to all of you with in a few days...probably the next day if I have them all. If I get them earlier then I will send them earlier. You will need to return them to me by October 15th. Then I can return the grown up finish blocks asap to all of you and if you need to make a quilt for Christmas then you will have time to do so. I am so excited. I have several fabrics that I have been oogling over and so I will have to decide on a pattern and perhaps that will help me choose.

Bee Beatty 06-26-2014 04:08 AM

Good News! I am packed up and ready to go in the mail on Monday. I will send tracking number to UGC2 on Monday as well. Family gathering for Beach Week in South Carolina on July 3rd for 10 days. However, someone will be staying in our home to receive mail. I will have I-Pad for posting and checking in!

Each of us will receive F8 from me with 2 fabrics - 1 focus Christmas fabric and 1 ivory snowflake fabric. These finished blocks will be part of a Cristmas Sampler Quilt so each of you will receive a different pattern with complete instructions and a different focus fabric. You are welcome to change the pattern if you choose. Please PM me if you have questions.

Look forward to swapping with you! "Boom RAB 2" has been moved to the launch pad! Time to get your Boom on!

Buzzy Bee

happylab 06-26-2014 10:24 AM

I'm so excited!!!! I'm in again. I 'm looking forward to making all of your chosen blocks.
FYI: I decided to do the Christmas Star from the quilterscache.com. A little harder choice than last swap, but I'm curious how all the blocks will turn out. I will be providing the background fabric and let you provide the reds and green fabric. Is this okay with the group? Please let me know what you think? Happy mailing and quilting.

So you will need to send 12 F8 with a pattern for others to do. REmember you can send your background material with a request for what colors you want on the other part or send themain color and request a background.
Let the fun begin. (psst...I have to go get my own material ready...sneaking downstairs right now.)
I will take pictures of everyones material and send you all a spread sheet like I did for Repeat a Boom #1. For those who are new...the spread sheet shows avatar name, fabric, and pattern. Unless you have 12 different patterns like Bee beatty and then I won't list that.

Great Granny Square quilt block Repeat A Boom 2
2014

Cut the Kona Snow strip into 2 ½” squares to be placed around the outside of the quilt block.
From the F8, cut THREE 2 ½” strips from the 18” length and sub-cut into 2 ½” squares. You should get 21 squares but will only need 16. Please either use the leftover squares in one your projects or return them to me. Either way is fine with me!
Use your quilting artistic creativity to fill in the remaining squares as you see fit, using whatever you think compliments the F8 I sent you. Please use a scant ¼” seam in the construction of the block. When I made my mock-up block, I used a regular ¼” seam and my block measured 12” unfinished - - ½” too small. Darn!
PLEASE leave the outer part of the block intact with the ‘sawtooth’ edges (not shown in the picture). I will square up the blocks when they come back to me.
Thanks!!

Please let me know if this makes sense to everyone!

Thanks - - -

jclinganrey 06-26-2014 12:31 PM

((should have added)) - - - of course I will send a copy to everyone along with my F8 and a strip of Kona snow.

Jane

Nelco 06-26-2014 07:04 PM

My block is from the quilters cache called 'pink ribbon' but changing the colors to green and blue. That is the color for donate life. www.donatelife.net Green is also the color for kidney transplantation. My sister had her kidney transplant 11 years now. Half will get blue and the other half will get green. Now off to buy the fabric.

giquilt 06-27-2014 02:13 AM

Ok I am inspired and new at this. It looks like I need to get a move on as Buzzy Bee is leading the way with mail ready, already. Thanks for including me.

Bee Beatty 06-27-2014 10:19 AM

This looks like a fun one too me. Can't wait to get started on it! Thanks for sharing it !

Hi giguilt!

Nice to meet you....I am fairly new to QB and just getting around to meeting everyone. I am so looking forward to this Swap. I did the last one along side Boom 11 and the quilt is really turning out beautiful.

Doing the same thing this Repeat Boom also. Knowing that, I cut all my F8s and packaged them when I was preparing for another Swap...so this time I was ready to mail ahead of schedule...:) I am not known for being the fastest kid on the block....:)

Look forward to swapping with you!

urgodschild2 06-27-2014 09:35 PM

Giquilt welcome to our happy crew. It is fun. Nelco, I love the colors.

I spent the day going on a quilt run today with two other ladies. It is the Southern CA. quilt run that covers 4 counties....LA, Orange, San Bernadino and San Diego. We did three last week and LA today. Traffic is the word for LA. Although we drove my a policewoman who had pulled a car over and she had her gun drawn. Cars just whizzing by like just another day in LA. I am home all weekend and I am going to be sewing. Yah Hoo.

urgodschild2 06-28-2014 08:38 AM

It's Sat. I am so excited because I get to start on my bucket list for the summer. Yep I do have one. Along with doing my boom blocks, I have some UFO's (about 25) that need to have some attention. I am thinking that being retired I have all the time n the world so why haven't I been working on these things all the time. Hmmmmm, well I have a quilt class I go to every week except summertime. Our instructor gives us a semester quilt, a yearly quilt (52 weeks) and then monthly quilts. So I get so involved with all that, that before I know it I have a back log of UFO's. Of course I know all of you don't have that problem. LOL. If any of you want some free patterns from my instructor (who also has her quilts published in quilt magazines) go to lynbrown.com Enjoy. Off to sew.

Thanks for doing this swap. Have my pattern printed, plan to cut fabric today along with packet making. Tomorrow plan to mail. I have stalked Lyn's website for some time. Printed some of her patterns, even though I have not use them yet. She looks like a great teacher. Wish I could take one of her classes.

PS: The block I picked is a 12" Broken Wheel Variation from Quilter Cache. I will send a F8 of color #2. Please pick a small flower print for color #1. Attached is a picture of some examples of fabrics I was thinking.

I made an example of the block as I will need 20 total for my quilt. so only 7 more + the RAB #2 blocks. Have packets ready, plan to mail tomorrow.

Nelco 06-29-2014 04:00 PM

i have my F8 and pattern read to go - we are looking for a sample fab for the background and then in the mail by the 4th.

urgodschild2 06-29-2014 11:22 PM

giquilt...beautiful. I love it.

Ok, some of you are confused about the rules and I am so glad that you have contacted me about them.
#3 should be eliminated. Because the rules have changed where you have to send everything to who ever runs the swap instead of to individuals....we are a little different on when you get the material out to me. We are all flexible in this group as this is only the second time we are doing this. If you need to have the three weeks to get your fabric to me....let me know. That would put the due date extended to July 17 instead of earlier. Let me know.
#12 Let me know when you mail your package with the tracking number. Also please post on the board that you have sent it so that others know.
I hope this clarifies everything. Let me know if anyone is still confused.
I think that I am going to be doing the hole in the barn pattern. It is simple to do and looks nice when put together.
Right now I am working on my blocks from the last Repeat Boom.

Bee Beatty 06-30-2014 10:49 AM

F8s in the mail to UGC2. Looking forward to this one! Sending tracking number now.

Bee

nurse bonnie 06-30-2014 04:46 PM

Mailed mine out, too. I picked the super easy "friendship block" pattern. I am going to make a baby quilt for an awesome waitress who works at my brother's restaurant. This will be her first baby. I am excited to get this made for her. Sending tracking # now.

You know how the idea of a boomerang is that you throw it and it comes back? For a boom swap, you send out fabric, people make blocks for you using that fabric, and mail it back.

urgodschild2 06-30-2014 10:39 PM

the mama Hauser.....got your box today and you forgot to put the instructions in with the pattern picture. Don't worry because you gave that same pattern for the facebook group and so I will print it up and put it in the envelops for everyone.. I love your material. This is going to be one gorgeous quilt. I saw the black and gold one and that is just exquisite.

urgodschild2 07-01-2014 07:41 AM
