I. Added jaba and she didn't know that she was in. My embarrassing fault. But if she does want to join us then their will be 13. If not, then we will have 12

Everyone stay warm tonight!

I have been looking at block patterns on Quilters Cache. The one I am drawn to is "Steps To The Alter". Any thoughts from the group? I only started quilting a couple of years ago and had some great teachers and friends who allowed me to work at my own pace. They were my inspiration and still are! I also really enjoy this group. I am learning so much more and finding new resources. If no one finds this block a stretch or if you do and want to go for it-just know I will love it more if it isn't perfect.

Bee Beatty 01-23-2014 05:09 PM

Jaba! Hope you are with us. This swap is going to make a beautiful Quilt for everyone.

jaba 01-23-2014 08:31 PM

Thank you Bee but I think I had better wait and see. Some have already sent their fabric in and I don't want anyone to have to mail a separate one for me. If they have just sent in 11, I will wait for the next swap to come around. I have plenty to do and really didn't think I was on the list anyway. I will check in and see how all of you are doing and look at all the pics posted. For the ones that have mailed already if you would post how many you sent in, then I can know whether to cut fabric or not.

paperpieceme 01-24-2014 05:26 AM

You forgot me! (jumps up and down from the corner) I was #11. Dont forget me! I was already to go!

jaba 01-24-2014 08:11 AM

Guess we all better wait and see before mailing anything.

givio 01-24-2014 09:21 AM

I didn't cut or send fabric yet. I wanted to make a test block, and the pattern I chose was a 10" block and I knew we were going to do 12" blocks! I must not have been paying attention when I chose it. I sewed a border around it to make it the 12", but I'm not sure I like it that way. So, I'm going to choose something different... I plan to mail next week.

Bee Beatty 01-24-2014 11:28 AM

I think this is going to be a fun and spirited group! It's good that we have a fearless leader! I will mail next Thursday. That will give God's Child a chance to settle back in.

pbadder 01-24-2014 12:35 PM

I don't plan on mailing out mine till the 31st,. I am not using baggies either using white envelopes. Okay list you sent does not have givio listed, but does have jaba. with jaba and givio it would be thirteen (13). Please try to send an updated amount of participates. I have cut 12 FQ's to send. I need to know if I need to cut anymore before I send out package. Thanks

urgodschild2 01-24-2014 03:54 PM

Paperpieceme is also on the list. My error and I am blaming my errors on being in Australia where everything is backwards and it is so confusing.

there are 13 of us so you do not have to make one of your own blocks unless you want too. So that means we will need to cut 12 pieces. I know that some of you have already mailed. So we will work it out somehow.

Ok ok I changed it and now it should be correct

givio 01-24-2014 09:10 PM

Barb, let me know if I'm participating or not? Pbadder's right, I'm not on your list. I sent you a pm on 12-10-13 with the info for signing up and you replied to me about being in the group the same day... On 01-21-14 you sent me your address to mail to-- but I haven't mailed yet. Please let me know what's up! :-)

jaba 01-25-2014 07:10 AM

Now my name isn't on the list either. This is a little too confusing, I'm out I'll wait for another time.

Bee Beatty 01-25-2014 08:41 AM

Seems like we have 15 with Jaba and Givio. Is there some reason we need to keep it to 12? If not, the ones who have already mailed can send two more F8's. The rest of us will know the new count and send the correct number. Otherwise it seems the last two in would forfeit. One of those would be me. I am good with what ever the final decision is, just need to so I can cut my F8's. As I always say on Christmas Day..."there is always room at the table for one more." This is a good program. I am sure it will be successful in the months ahead. God's Child....thanks for patience in putting this together will on vacation!

Nelco 01-25-2014 09:30 AM

I will be cutting mine today and cut some extra just in case....

paperpieceme 01-25-2014 10:20 AM

i have 12 cut but i have more fabric. and cut a few more and stuff them in the envelope

urgodschild2 01-25-2014 11:52 PM

Givio. I spelt your name wrong my error. I

urgodschild2 01-26-2014 12:01 AM

Note to self. Do not try to start a quilt swap on the quilt board when you are going away on vacation. What on earth was I thinking. Not only that it is the first time I have ever done thus. So. Givio is in. I spelt her name wrong. We need to send 12 pieces of fabric. To give me time please have every thing sent to me by Feb 6. By that time I should have my head back on clearly and Americanized again. I am now talking like an Australian. Love you all. Please excuse me

givio 01-26-2014 09:18 AM

Sounds like a plan! Plan to mail next week sometime.

Think she has to stay at 12, that's why I bowed out and will wait for the next one. Didn't mean the swap was too confusing, meant it would be to confusing trying to get Patrice to okay more people. Thought I better explain that, didn't type all my head was thinking :p I'll keep checking in and seeing the beautiful blocks that are posted.

pbadder 01-27-2014 03:22 PM

If anyone is interested I made a sample block of Annie's Choice, which is the block I chose for this Boom. You can check it out in my albums. Entitled Repeat Boom let me know what you think.

I like it.
I will be making my sample this week to see how much of the F8 is used.

urgodschild2 01-27-2014 05:00 PM

PBadder . I like it

Pbadder, checked out your sample block-very nice! Is it made with your fabric you will be sending? I like the block choice. Are you sending the same block pattern with each F8?. Bee

Bee Beatty 01-28-2014 01:14 PM

Godschild-finished cutting 14 F8s .....I am officially sending 12 each with block instructions. They need to mailed to you on or before February 7th . I think I'm good with all other requirements.

If anyone in this group is not comfortable making the block "Steps to the Altar" on Quilters Cache"' just PM me and I will send you a different block pattern. No problem. I plan to mail on Friday.

Thanks and Happy sewing!
Bee

This is the block I would like. Churn Chains from Quilters Cache.

moonrise 01-29-2014 12:18 AM

My fabric was supposed to be here yesterday, but we're iced in, and the roads are bad. UPS couldn't get up our hill to deliver the package. Even DH's 4WD truck isn't going anywhere on this steep hill. Not sure if today will be any better. :( I'll get the fabric in the mail ASAP.

Nelco 01-30-2014 09:17 AM

After looking at the blocks being made for me on the other boom 11. I am having to change my block so it will go with the other ones. I do have one that will work. back to the drawing board.

Having the same thought process. Going with a different block as well -Bee

paperpieceme 01-30-2014 08:14 PM

my fabric went off in the mail to Cali today. hope it is not encased in ice when it gets there, this winter has been a bear.

givio 01-30-2014 08:39 PM

I changed my block from my original choice too! It wasn't the correct size... This week I found something I liked, cut it out to test it, and it was too small too! I don't know how I could so poorly pay attention to what I'm reading! So, now (at last!) I've found the 12" size pattern-- it's nearly the same as the first block I chose. My first one was called Basket of Chips. This one is called Grape Basket. Still planning to mail this week.

Nelco 01-31-2014 03:49 PM

http://delawarequilts.com/BOMs/AuntElizasStar/AStar.jpg this is the block I have decided on. I got it from Delaware Quilts, and they call it AUNT ELIZAS STAR. I am using only 2 colors.

moonrise 01-31-2014 04:23 PM

My fabric finally got here. Yay! I'll get it ready to go no later than Monday evening, and will hopefully get it in the mail on Tuesday. :)

Nelco 02-01-2014 03:47 PM

Mine is all ready to go out Monday. This is going to be a different kind of fun swap :)

givio 02-01-2014 06:19 PM

I've put my package in the mail to Barb today. It's getting more exciting... at last! We've been waiting a long time on this one. I can't wait to see what I get to make for everyone!

The F8 I sent you is not very exciting, sorry. It's my background color... But I got the idea from somebody else-- who said they were thinking of doing that? :-) I thought, "I like that, I'd like all my background to match."

givio 02-01-2014 06:25 PM

Well... I didn't have enough of it, so 8 match and 4 match... but I can make a nice layout with that.

urgodschild2 02-02-2014 06:01 PM

I am home.....totally jetlaged, Forcing myself to stay awake until evening. Got 3 big packages. The Mama Hauser, Paperpieceme and LJDugas (big and small). I can't wait to see what pattern everyone picks. It is going to be so much fun. Will be functioning much better tomorrow.

Good to hear you are home and resting. I understand jet lag from my trips to Japan. Seems worse on the return trip coming back home. My last return trip....I decided to go to Walmart to pick up some food basics to try to stay awake. When I walked back to my car...I just kept walking past my car to edge of the parking lot before I realized the plan was not to walk home. Duuhhhhh! LOL! Rest well!

givio 02-02-2014 09:06 PM

Welcome home!

Bee Beatty 02-03-2014 11:28 AM

Mailed my F8s this morning. Yay! Going to work on a sample block. I chose the Star Flower. I varied my F8s by cutting 3 each of 4 coordinating fabrics in the collection - which will give some variety to the 12 blocks of the same pattern. Can't wait to get started on this one.

Sending my tracking number to God's Child today.
