Tadadadaaaaah! Guess what was in my mail box this afternoon! Kathy's center. It got to CA safe and sound and I love the colors. Already burnt dinner because I was playing with options. Pat came in and gave me a harumph - Honey, are you going to burn dinner every time you get a center? I told him to get used to it or order pizza. lol

I am mailing my center to Ligia tommorrow. We will see how long it takes to get to her. I can't wait to get my first center.

Now I´m officially scared.

Pam, I am sending the center out to you tomorrow. I can't decide yet what I'm going to do for the label so I'll send a paper label. I may scan it on fabric - so be colorful if you want. Or I may trace it and embroider (by hand) - not sure.

Also, I added a wide border with the red. It's an odd size now. I leave it up to you to do WHATEVER - if the size is off, just trim it down to meet your needs.

Now I get to pull out audition pieces for Kathy's center. It's talking to me a lot.

Sorry I have been MIA. My dh severely injured his right forearm last Thursday night. He was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. He's had two surgeries and we're looking at a couple more at least. I just came home for a couple days to take care of some personal business. But we have two months to do this; correct? So I should have plenty of time to do my part when I get yours Martina.

Oh Pam...Sorry to hear that about your hubby, I hope things are going well for him. Will keep him in our Prayers!!!!

There has been a little confusion with the end of RR2 and the start of RR3.
We now have our OWN Virtual Section.
Go and subscribe to it so we can use that instead of RR2.
This will make life MUCH easier for all.

I received quiltwoman's center in the mail. it is up on my design wall. I think it needs to go on point. This will make the quilt larger. Is this OK? If I put it on point I don't then add a 3" border also right?

Here is a description from the rules:

Option - in lieu of any one of the first 2 rounds, the block may be turned on point, if appropriate. Triangles are then added to each side of the "diamond" to make it into a square again. Appliqué or embellish the corners.

However: If you want to set it on point AND do the 3" border, you can certainly do that. You just don't have to.

I'll double check with Terri.

OK, I got the reply from Terri:

You need to check with quiltwoman IF she wants the quilt on point. If she does, then you're good to go. I don't know how much overlap you would need to add - that darn math for those large triangles.

If the quilt goes on point, then the 3" border simply goes away. The next person in the lineup would do the 5" border.

As Terri asked: Clear as mud?

I am going to take a while to do quilt woman's center and will most likely not send the two things I have out at the same time. My brain can only do one at a time.

Good thinking, because the round with the first border isn't due to be shipped out til the 1st of November. At the rate that everyone is cranking out their rows, we may all be ahead of the game.

Now we need to find out when Kathy gets ligia's center.

I got your center Martina. I don't know exactly what day it was because we didn't come home from the hospital until Saturday. Sorry I didn't post sooner; things have been a little hectic around here. My dh is doing better but it will be a while until he's fully recovered. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

No worries! All that matters at the moment is DH's health and recovery. The RR can take a backseat for as long as it needs.

I found the perfect fabrics to add to Kathy's center and it was hiding in my stash. Now for the math......

Ligia your center arrived safe and sound!!! I have already been fabric shopping and today finished the borders. Tomorrow they will be sewn on and it will be ready to fly!!! By the way for all of you, Ligia's center is gorgeous, it is beautiful, bright, vibrant and will really give us all an opportunity to do the wild and crazy borders!! I'll post a photo when I'm done with the first round.

Please, PLEASE, PLEASE...take your time on the borders. The first border may ONLY be a small one, but you never know, you might decide AFTER you put the border on that you have another idea.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND EARLY UNLESS IT IS GOING OVERSEAS!!! WE DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO GET BACKED UP BY SOMEONE SENDING AND SENDING BECAUSE THEY ARE DONE. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN! IT'S NOT A CONTEST TO SEE WHO CAN BE DONE THE QUICKEST!!

SO now we are waiting to hear when Ligia gets crafymainemom's center.

quiltwoman is going to have it easy for the next 6 weeks, because she already is done with the first center.

Today was my round robin day! I ran with my idea for the border on Ligia's quilt. The colors are bright and vibrant and I am thrilled with the end product. I hope you guys like it too.

I used a double diamond ruler and made the double diamond border.

Martina it is ready to ship, let me know when you want me to drop it in the mail. Even if you do nothing more than hang it on your wall right now it is well worth getting early!!!

That border is pretty cool. Where did you get the ruler?

I found it at my LQS. It is wonderful. Very easy to use and the results are spectacular. You use your rotary cutter to make the diamonds.

Kathy - that border is stunning and the perfect addition to ligia's center. The colors!!!!! my heart is beating faster.

Interesting that you should use that method because we just had a discussion on the German forum about that ruler.

If you want to send it out early to get it out of your house, I have no problem taking it early. That said, you'll most likely have a dry spell until the next mailing date.
