When would the first row have to be ready? Do we choose what colors we want for everyone's row or stick to the first row color theme???

materialgrl 05-03-2010 03:51 PM

The first row is due in the mail by June 10 which is in your colors, you will get a different quilt each month to add a row to in their colors, but following the schedule Send that and get another with a different theme

This sounds quite interesting. I'd love to see pictures of everyone's as it progresses. I'm almost tempted. I've heard of squares that go around something like this.

materialgrl 05-04-2010 05:01 AM

I sent you a private message joining the group. I'm happy the swap begins on June 10 and am wondering if it will be an International Row Robin.

Also, I thought everyone might be interested in seeing the Row Robin my two sisters and I made in 2008. We each made two rows and decided to use 8" finished blocks, either patchwork, paper pieced or appliqued. Further we decided to put sashing between each row. My rows are Row 1 and Row 4. We all really enjoyed the experience and have received many compliments on the wall hangings. Belles

I sent you a p.m. material girl, but i was still on the other page. I hope I'm not to late I would love to join. Thanks.
I do have a question are we just making the rows? Are we attaching them to the previous row? I'm not sure I understand that part or is each row being sent to their owner and the owner is putting them together?
Muriel

materialgrl 05-05-2010 04:32 AM

The owner is making the first row, it is then sent to your buddy who makes a row sews it on and sends to the next person .You will get another quilt to add row three sew it on then pass it on ,and so on,when your quilt comes back it will have 12rows.Yes we have one from Canada, I will be sending to her, in case the postage is a little more.Your quilt is beautiful

sandpat 05-05-2010 04:34 AM

I can't play on this one, but I'm going to love to watch! Your quilt is lovely Belles!!!

I was confused til I realized this was a "row by row" not a ROUND robin...sorry about that, I was trying to figure out the 6 1/2 x 60" deal

materialgrl 05-05-2010 04:54 AM

Yes, I understand,I have only heard of round robins, but someone mentioned, Row robin, and I grabbed it and ran with it seems easier for my first attempt.

materialgrl 05-05-2010 04:55 AM

We have are 12 participates, with one on the waiting list, YIPPEE

Ripped on Scotch 05-05-2010 05:45 AM

I hope everyone is ok with this but would like to make a label so that it can go with my blocks so everyone can sign the label with their locations.

Does anyone have any issues with that?

materialgrl 05-05-2010 05:50 AM

I think that is cool,Also I should mention we should put a piece of paper on each row with our name and board name so we will know who did what row. You may want to pin a note to yours so everyoe knows to sign it

Gramakitten 05-05-2010 06:11 AM

the label sound like a great idea. I will do it also.

JudyG 05-05-2010 06:36 AM

I like the label idea too and will do that also. I am so excited about this I made my first row blocks yesterday, so I'm ready to go- whoopee!!!

I go To The Sea To Breathe 05-05-2010 06:56 AM

So should we already be working on our row? We don't know what row to start with, right? I will re read the rules and see if I can figure it out..thanks

Excellent ideas. How about adding the name of the block and your state or country to the note? The first swap I participated in brought me blocks from all over the US. It was exciting to see what fabrics came from which state. However, the second swap produced six blocks from the same state. Belles

Yes, you can be working on your blocks, the1st.row is from quilters cache 6 in. blocks, 4 Patch Variation ,do it in the colors of your choice, and we will finish it to match

abi 05-05-2010 12:03 PM

hey found a siggy block tutorial to add signature to your row just a thought. you'd have to adjust the size to fit your 6 1/2 size.
<http://www.psiquilt.com/2010/01/sigg...-tutorial.html> I may want to do next row robin love Belles sister quilt. cool!

materialgrl 05-05-2010 01:14 PM

That would even count as a triangle, I forgot to add please prewash your fabrics, that is pretty standard, on this board, but I should have included that I think I pm'd everyone

Kerri 05-05-2010 01:18 PM

Are we going to have a picture post following this? after each row added that is starting with our initial rows?

materialgrl 05-05-2010 01:24 PM

I sure hope we do I can hardly wait to see them all done

I go To The Sea To Breathe 05-05-2010 01:51 PM

Do the colors that we use have to be the original choices we listed when we signed up for quilting board? I would like to change mine.. If I can.
