When he says it with *that* look on his face, I just say, "ok." Some times it's not worth the fight.

Theresa, pretty, pretty stained glass quilt. Hav, congrats on the job and best to you there and to all who have been sick - hope you are feeling better now. With the cooler weather (it is coming soon), I always feel better - summer's heat makes my allergies just flare up all the time. I love Autumn. I can start thinking about it and feel better. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Glad I'm back home. Had a wonderful time in NYC last week with my brother and family. Went to the City Quilter, the only quilt store in NYC that I know of. Bought some fat quarters of NYC themed fabric, a batik and a pattern. T hen we walked to 34th st. big mistake, lots of shopping there, then to 42nd Times Square, HUGE mistake! lol! I had fun though, we also visited the 9/11 memorial site. That was very sad with all of the l ives lost on such a tragic day in history. I did take photos of all the area and the new Twin Towers is going to look beautiful. Glad I'm in the Sept. SP swap, love these swaps!

I work in the Chrysler Building should have stopped by to say hello :) I have been to the City Quilter once. It is a nice shop although I love the quaint country shops better. I also have the fabric with the subway map on it, but I haven't made anything with it. What do you plan on making with your NYC fabric? Maybe I will pull it out and figure out what to do with it. Glad you enjoyed your trip to NYC. I haven't seen the 911 memorial yet. Not sure if I am ready for that but I have seen pics and it is beautiful! Would love to see pics of your visit!

quiltnut4ever 08-27-2012 03:59 PM

Beeboop, had I known you worked in the Chrysler building I would have definitely took the time to meet you! The 9/11 memorial was nice, they are still working on the museum. It was my second time at the city quilter. They have expanded there shop a lot and have beautiful batiks, but being NYC prices they were very sky high..so I only bought 1/2 yard of one batik. I have fat quarters from my first visit of nyc fabric and this time they had different ones. Here's a link to a scrappy bag that I have made so many times. I made one for myself a while back for work and it is so handy! http://www.modabakeshop.com/2011/04/...arm-pouch.html it is easy to make and all you need are 7 5" squares and two fat quarters plus a 9" zipper and fusible interfacing. Some of my secret pals have received them as part of their gifts but they are so fast to make and they make great gifts! So I'll be using my fat quarters from nyc to make myself another bag for work so that I can interchange. I will try to upload the pics but my guy needs the puter now so I'll this week.

I didn't know you worked there either! I love that building and one Halloween, long, long ago I spent the night dancing with someone dressed up as the Chrysler Building! I can actually see it from the bay side of our island -- can you see me? I'm waving!

Ahh, if you're going to come visiting, dive in and do a package too:), you've got enough stash stuff to fill a tanker, I bet, and if you don't send anything other then say some of your wonderful beach plum jam, which I'm still hoping to be a lucky sp to get some.....would remind me of all the years we stole away to Nantucket off season for a weekend or 2....and now I'm 5 hours minimum to any beach in any direction:(. Gone are the days I saw the water 5 days a week as I commuted into Boston daily...

Vanogay 08-28-2012 09:29 AM

QuiltNut4Ever, I really like that pattern you make for your Secret Pals. Remember me if you get my name and I'll be very happy - I won't care what fabrics you use either!! Glad your trip was good. I've only been to NY once in my life and I was about 16 at the time - LOOOOONG time ago! Hubby and I traveled for the government many times during our working years, but when we retired, we decided to stay home - and stay we have. Trips are short and between sons and sister, that's it. Take care everyone and stay safe if you're in the path of Isaac.

Beeboop71 08-28-2012 11:47 AM

Thanks for the pattern Quiltnut4ever. I love making bags so I will definitely take a shot at this one!.

TheMamaHauser 08-28-2012 12:28 PM

I know we all like to receive packages in each month, but if anyone would like to contribute toward a one-sided package as an act of kindness for a QB member who doesn't do the swap, would you contact me?

Jan Rutherford 08-28-2012 06:16 PM

I am BUMMED EVERYONE.....I think I am going to have to sit this month out also. Finances are tight! But I will pop in and read and look at whatever pictures come in. My Computer is VERY OLD and SLOW and I am looking at replacing it, so my dollars must be saved for the new computer.

quiltnut4ever 08-29-2012 03:13 AM

Beeboop and Vanogay you're quite welcome! They're very easy and also wash very nice too. I'll keep you in mind Vanogay if you're my Sept. sp. Everyone have a good day and if you're in the area of Isaac please be safe.

I saw this posted on facebook:
My Husband said if I bought any more fabric he was leaving me, I will miss him ! :D :D

Krystyna 08-29-2012 10:57 AM

Oh my dear friends, I am visiting, but signing up? *sigh* I don't think so.
Too busy with a million things ... tracking down missing quilts for the Doll Quilt Swap (*ahem*)
Finishing up the Patriotic Quilt for the Joann's employee ... which I am doing right now.
Finishing sea horses and pink ribbons and who knows what all else for friends on the board ...
And I have a mountain of tomatoes and peppers and figs and blackberries and raspberries that need to get processed fast ... we got sprayed last night for mosquitoes and I wanted to get as much picked as possible before the truck came through ...
But ... today is the 29th ... and the deadline is the 31st ...
If only people would be happy with whatever I put into a package so I wouldn't have to take the time for special shopping ... which can't be done right now ... c'est la vie!

Quilty-Louise 08-29-2012 11:34 AM

LOL good one!

Oh Krystyna...I wanted you to get my name..no special shopping needed..just some beach plum jam..I have no idea what it is but you made it sound like a piece of heaven!

Beeboop, you work in the Chrysler Bldg? That is my favorite building in all of the world! My late MIL lived in a penthouse on Park Ave and I used to just sit on her balcony and enjoy that view. I was able to tour it once..just so wonderful!

Lori Peercy 08-29-2012 05:36 PM

We have 79 signed up now, have been busy packing and taking boxes down to first floor apt and unpacking. They do not have the old carpet tore up yet and the new carpet in so can only put stuff into the kitchen, bathroom and storage closet (where most of my fabric is). They are not carpeted areas. Purging as I go. Am dead tired!

jaba 08-29-2012 05:54 PM

Krystyna, I really need to ask you why you feel that you must going shopping for something "special" and not what you have already purchased and have on hand for just these swaps?? Or what you have taken the time and effort into making. I think I've put together some pretty great boxes and have bought here and there as I have seen items that I thought would be enjoyed. I know they ask what would you like most but sometimes that just isn't possible. Maybe I have totally missed something here and don't belong in this swap at all. I just don't understand why you would even think something like that. If I am out of line, please forgive me, but I truly think you are being way too hard on yourself. I feel like this should not be a hardship on anyone, but an extra little surprise.

:D It's Scots - the literal translation is, 'Long may your chimney (lum) reek (smoke)'.

In other words - 'Have a long life!'

I don't think you're dumb at all - there's probably quite a few - including those who live on the same island ;) - who were wondering too!

No Krystyna, it means - 'Stop messing about and join the swap'. ;)
