Welcome Polkweed and Logcabin! We are a fun group. I know you will enjoy being part of the gang.

marcialee 09-09-2022 06:45 AM

I sent a photo to sewbiz of the fabric I will be using. My only color request is BLACK ONLY.. I also got the invite to the Holly page, but I didn't see where I was suppose to accept the invite.
My baggies are full and my package will go out Monday.

Do I need to put a note in each individual baggies regarding my color choice?

Marcilee - yes - please put all recommendations on color in each bag. I can't remember what i had for breakfast so won't recall who wanted black! Also if you have any plans on who will be receiving the quilt or what you are planning for it. It helps get our juices running. - even something like LOUD fabric or soft colors!!

Ok no problem. I am requesting black and I have no idea where the quilt will end up

Logcabin! How did you get your photos to post like this? Usually our photos post as only tiny thumbnails that we have to click on to open into big photos. I would love to know how to post them big in the first place. Love your fabrics, BTW.

Short bio... well apparently I'm the first dude to sign up for the Boom swap. I live in Georgia, run a small business, and am slowly remodeling my house. Other hobbies are reading, embroidery, and watching bad movies.

polkweed, your photo didn't show up. You have to shrink photos small for them to be able to post here. I hope you will try again!

Marcialee, YES, put a note in with your fabrics that say to use black only! Only what is on the note counts, not what's said in this thread. People will forget what you say in the thread so the notes in the bags is a must. No note means "do whatever you want with my fabric". LOL.

To get into the group, click on the link in my sig line and there should be a prompting to ask if you want to join that group. Click on 'yes'. If you have been invited, you should see that prompting.

Love your star, Terri! That fabric is so dear to me because I used it to make clothes for my grandgirls when they were babies!

Only two days left to sign up for this swap! Sign ups close tomorrow night at 11:59. Lurkers? Last chance... we'd love to have you join us.

Sure Sewbizgirl! :)

1. If you want to post pics their original size, I go to: https://imgbb.com/
2. You can either drag or upload your pictures clicking: Start upload
3. Select your photos
4. Before you upload, be sure the tab says "Don't Auto Delete," Otherwise your pics will disappear after a set time. You can also select multiple photos to upload.
5. Press upload.
6. It will say upload complete and then you will scroll down to "Embed codes". Click "Viewer links" and select "BB Code Full Link" and then copy that link.
7. When you post, remove the URL link in the code, you don't need this to post your photo: [*url=https://ibb.co/dPz4BKd][*img]https://i.ibb.co/485RWN6/14-ED58-C7-5-DE9-4-CC6-B135-F3-C09-C02-E822.jpg[/*img][/*url]
8. Then You'll just have your image code and post that:

I think I figured it out. Rather than using a 3rd party host like Logcabin, I've been uploading to a site album and using the provided links. But when I created one for the Boom, I set it to private rather than public. So is this showing up for everyone?

Thanks LogCabin! I was wondering how to do that, too. Beautiful hexagons you have posted! So glad to see you in here!

Marcialee, your fabric plays really well with a number of the ones I am sending out. My granddaughter calls it jungle-colored.

Terriamn, I am going to have to try to make that star. Your color choices are lovely!

Pokeweed -- no pressure at all being the first male in the group! You sound like a crafter so you're going to fit right in.

I am busy cutting my fabrics. My padded envelopes FINALLY arrived from the USPS. I got the unpaid variety so a trip to the post office is in my near future.

Sewbizgirl -- do you have any stamp collectors in the fam? If so, I will try to get the high valued stamp to put on the envelope. Those are hard to come by and the post office here had them last week (I was very excited about it as I don't like using ticker tape on the packages I send out. Stamps are much prettier). Let me know.

I wasn’t sure if I had enough fabric, but I had plenty of leftovers from an elephant quilt I made for a friend so I was able to make enough fat 8ths with what I had! :) I’d like to have a new quilt for Spring or perhaps give to my mom, since she likes elephants.

Love those Elephants! A quilt for mom..... Hmmmm. The wheels are turning. I haven't been up to Michigan for a couple years. How was the summer this year? I have relatives in the Detroit part of the state.

Pretty fabric, Cheesehead!

Here’s my second block from my own fabric. I’ll probably make one more for now. I’m itching to get my hands on all those lovely F8s. Been going through websites and books, reacquainting myself with 12 inch blocks. It was a trip through Boom memory lane! Which reminds me, I’m going to open up all the past boom galleries soon so you all can look through them if you like. The link, as always, is in my signature.

Well, it’s supposed to rain here most of the weekend so I guess I’ll be stitching more of my quilt top together but honestly, my mind keeps going to this boom. Better get it done before the F8s arrive.

sewbizgirl 09-09-2022 01:59 PM

Out first package of fabric arrived today!!! Ding ding ding Janice McC!!
More are expected to arrive tomorrow, according to tracking info. All fabric is due in my hands by the 20th!

Thanks for those detailed posting instructions, Logcabin! I'll see if I can follow them.

polkweed, glad to see your cool fabrics. Be sure to include that note that tells us what colors you want used with these.

Ibex, no, no one collects stamps that I know. Only fabric, LOL. I would be happy to save them for whoever wants them, tho. You, maybe?

Pretty floral fabric, Cheese... can't wait to see it in person.

Love your second block, Janice. Soon we'll all be making them!

Cheesehead 09-09-2022 04:00 PM

Janice, I am so in love with your pansy fabric! Both of the blocks you have made are stunning and showcase your fabric beautifully.

It’s been a pretty warm summer here, but I hate how it’s getting darker earlier. :( I’m going to have to use my happy light soon.

terriamn 09-10-2022 04:26 AM

Cheesehead, love your fabric.

Janice I agree your pansy fabric is making for some beautiful blocks.

We had a beautiful rain yesterday that was so needed. I spent the day in my sewing room working on a few projects that I hope to finish up before the boom fabrics arrive.

My prepaid padded envelopes arrived yesterday, the plan is to mail my package to you on Monday Sewbiz

Going to be a rough day for me, driving into the city today for a friend’s funeral

sewbizgirl 09-10-2022 05:40 AM

So sorry for your loss, Terri.

LogCabin82 09-10-2022 07:22 AM

I thought I’d share the quilt I made for my friend with the elephant fabric! Unfortunately I never took a picture of the whole quilt, but I did take a few pics!

My fabric is all bundled, messaged, tagged and ready to get mailed on Monday. I have changed my mind about colors and goals. Everyone gets a different colored blender from my treasures found at the Goodwill outlet store. I did wash in hot water and scentless detergent. I have no fur babies in my house so no dander to affect allergies in these packages. Here is the majority of my message in the F8 baggies:

I have decided that this fabric is going to be part of a science/jungle-themed quilt for my ten-year old granddaughter. She is a scientist already and is not all interested in what I consider traditional “girly” things. She is an explorer, too, and her favorite color is jungle green. So, I am thinking that the joys of science and the jungle – lots of green with splashes of color from birds and flowers, critters and bugs high and low, vines, trees, flowing rivers, waterfalls, etc. If you need different inspiration, she is a soccer fanatic and Saints fan, too. So many possibilities! Sunbonnet Sue (in pith helmet, of course) climbing a pyramid in Guatemala is a block I am working on, for instance. Quilt blocks do not have to depict science/jungle/sports either.

I am sending a 12.5 x 18” sized fabric to everyone in case someone wants to do applique on a 12.5” block like what I am doing. I have no color limitations and however you want to use the fabric I am sending along is perfectly great. I know your block will be beautiful no matter how little or how much of the fabric you use.

As soon as I am happy with my Sunbonnet Sue block, I'll show it to you. Cheers everyone!

terriamn 09-10-2022 04:52 PM

Thank you Ibex and Sewbiz.

I will be sending a third fabric with for the 2 month group. A lovely sunflower fabric that will be for a table runner. For my dining room table

sewbizgirl 09-10-2022 05:18 PM

Wow, so many pretty colors, Ibex, and so many ways to go with it. My head is reeling! It will take some thinking to find the right block to make.

Terri, a sunflower table runner sounds lovely. I'm getting so excited about this swap starting soon!
