Oh dear, true confessions, I made my crazy quilt, and fell in love with it, set it aside, made another one, THEN started to fall in love with it, and thought NO, and quickly finished it and mailed it to Ms Grace! Now I'm thinking of doing another one for me.....but then again, lets see this red, white and blue! Maybe I should be Miss Greedy Jean.

gaiatender, like you, I have a wedding dress to do something with some day. It was my niece's daughter's, whose marriage should have never taken place and lasted about two months. She was going to put the dress in a church rummage sale. I think this was about an $800 dress and it is simply gorgeous! But it is too beautiful to cut up! I don't really know where to start and until I can decide what to do with it, I have it hanging from the ceiling in spare bedroom where I put my quilt tops. I see that beautiful dress every time I go down the hall. It has a long train with beautiful, fantastic lace, pearl insets, etc. and those go all the way around the hem of the dress! My wedding dress from 1960 became a Fairy Godmother's dress in the early 1980's. I knew my daughter would never want to wear it so gave it to my niece to make a Halloween costume. My hubby about had a stroke when he passed through the kitchen to see her in my dress, standing on the dining table, and her mother and I could whacking it off! It basically just had tulle ruffles for the skirt so no big loss; besides I didn't plan on wearing it again, haha. Beautiful beaded, sequined bodice and long lace sleeves and lace overlays on the side of skirt. Cost $40 because I wanted long sleeves and it was considered a Winter gown and I was being married in May so it was half price. Worked for me!

Okay, Cogito, send me your snail addy and I will send your June quilt to you! Got the label sewn on and it's good to go!

Bertie...sounds a lot like the wedding dress I have but no long train. Glorious covered buttons, satin, pearls, lace...fodder for an old fashioned ornate crazy quilt for sure.

ROFL! OK Bertie, isn't there a rule that says you can't send the June quilt till it IS June! Hahahaha! Overachiever! Bertie and I are already having fun with our June partnership.

Bertie you are too darn fast! :D Make her wait. You know that ketchup commercial ... "Anti-ci-paaaa-tion"

On wedding dresses - several years ago we got to a tag sale at the end of the day and I picked up a magnificent wedding gown from the 1930s for $5. I planned to chop it up and do something interesting with it. It was in the garage. Maybe I'll look for it today and see if it is salvageable.

Oy, school hasn't been started a week and I'm already running behind. So, happy belated birthday Krystyna.

I got my CQ from Cognito this past Tuesday... I think... days are already starting to run together. It is amazingly cool and given the story she told about it, I'm honored to have recieved it. The majority of it isn't just vintage, it's pieced from things from both of her grandmothers. And the little angel/fairy doll is just.... wow! I wish I had a dedicated sewing room/area so I could put this up and have my very own guardian angel, embued with that kind of history, watching over my stitchery.

I am so glad you mailed it to me.
I love it.

I am so happy you are loving your little doll quilt Argentium! Makes me SMILE. Better straighten out that little flower in the middle that folded in the mail so it can get its full rays of sun. :D

Cogito, that is wonderful! What a treasure you made!
