Rhonda,
I wanted to say thank you, and show you a mug rug I made from the 1.5 inch template you sent me.

I really enjoy doing the smaller pieces. This was about 10.5 inches square.
I have been lurking on this thread for a while, and enjoy the conversation. I wanted you to know that you have inspired me to go small as well as big.

My mom bought some old mags at a yard sale and one of them was a woman's magazine that had this project in it. It was a 2003 mag. She asked me to make some tails for these pinball turkeys. I thought I might make each feather a diff fabric and see how they come out. I know there are alot of turkey patterns out there but this one looks like fun to me. I did make one tail last night but need to seam between the feathers yet. I made it bigger tho as the pattern looks too small for me. It is only one fabric which is what the pattern calls for. My mom picked out 7 diff fabrics for 7 tails so I will make those for her first and then play with some scrappy ideas for the tails.
If you dont' have a bowling pin I am sure there are lots of turkey patterns you could substitute for the bowling pin.

Dede, your mugrug is adorable! Sooo pretty!
Rhonda, I know I've seen that turkey before. I've painted a wooden one with bright different colored tail feathers and it was super cute that way! I like your idea...will want pictures of course...
