I've been off board for a couple of weeks--youngest son got married with lots of guests in and out over a 10 day period. Decided to pull out this EQ UFO project. Had all the pieces cut and half the checker board squares sewn. I am now working on the star blocks and then can start sewing together. I'm thinking of doing this QAYG. And yes all from scraps--some Jo Morton, Thimbleberries, CW and KT fabrics. Many have been gifted to me. Basic cut is 2 1/2" so a great way to use up all those bits of binding leftovers. Was inspired by this Barbara Brackman quilt

OK,
What a beautiful quilt! If those are all 2-1/2" charms then it looks like each block is 8" square. What I would like to know is where did you get the pattern for the star blocks. I think I can figure it out, star block, would use 1-1/2" charms and
2-1/2" hst. Oops, it looks like I have a full bucket! I guess it's ok to have two bucket lists?
Thanks for posting your quilt.

The star points on both blocks are flying geese blocks. I cut sky triangles (HST) from EZ Angle ruler using a 2 1/2" cut of fabric 13" long. Goose triangles from the EZ Companion ruler also using 2 1/2" cut 24" long to yield 4 triangles and 4 corner squares. Those leftover 2 1/2" binding strips come in handy. Center square is 4 1/2".

You need 71 large checkerboards; 50 Evening star blocks; and 22 checkerboard star blocks.
So start sorting 2 1/2" and a few 1 1/2" strips into lights and darks....

that's the idea Ronda!!LOL I love scrappy. The lady I used to sell to prefered scrappy so I did mostly scrappy for 12 yrs for her. Lots of hotpads bookmarks coin purses etc all scrappy. I do prefer controlled scrappy tho. It just suits my need for control also.
