Scrappy/Orphan Swap?
#1
Hi all you scrappy quilters! I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a Scrappy / Orphan block swap?
It would take an adventurous quilter to participate; no rules for colors, size, pattern, theme... Send your orphans or make blocks, your choice. The only thing I would ask is that you sign the front of your block with your screen name & where you're from...
I would be happy to host, as it's my first time, maybe limit the entries to 100. Think about it & let me know!
Hi again All, after careful consideration ( Thank You PatriceJ for all your help..) I have realized I may not be the best person to host a swap. Thank you all for taking the time to respond to my query; I would love to participate if someone else decides to host.
Thanks Again!

Could you explain to us novices what exactly an orpahn scrappy block is? Is it a block you've made and just thrown in a draw? How many blocks would be expected?

don't forget to contact PatriceJ for approval before you make this swap official or announce any procedures, deadlines, etc.
i've heard she's realy picky about that. ;-)

Well, I make most of my quilts with out a pattern... so I just make blocks until it looks like I have enough, what ever is left over I consider an orphan, they usually live in a box until I can figure out what to do with them since they don't usually go with anything; after a while you end up with a few ( alot) of these . Alot of times I suppose people make bags, stockings, potholders, makeup bags, dog quilts, etc. from these.
Anyway it might be fun to do a swap for someone elses orphans...

I just donated my box with orphan blocks to charity.
I couldn't even make a quilt with my own orphans, let alone with blocks from different people ( I think) :-)

IF Patrice gives the go ahead, count me in, I love "sampler" quilts the more colorful, abstract the better for me.

if this is approved first . . . wouldn't that mean we would have to make 100 blocks if you have 100 participants? sounds like alot. i may be interested if it will be less.
