Krys - my take is to do minimal quilting on these - letting the fabric contrast speak for itself - but that is just me.

Time will tell ...

I think you were right, Paula ...

The more I quilt, the less I like my work.

Krys, do you have a nice quilting embroidery design that would work. I noticed that several just have the feathered wreath in them, this will work. of course, I don't know the size of yoru blocks, but is an option. Always, stitch in the ditch is a great way to go with these as well. I also would stick with the black solid if you are using black. Seems to be the trend for the old fashioned quilts. If you did want to modern it up, the varigated thread you mentioned works just as nice. Just my thoughts as you requested.

Yep. There are nine blocks, so I used a very simple quilt pattern that wasn't too round or too square. I ended up using dark purple thread and ... I couldn't resist trying out the variegated, so I used that in the bobbin. As soon as I get some customer packages out the door, I'll take a photo of one of the blocks ... not too worried about my partner seeing it as she is off on a cruise for a couple of weeks with no internet! Now I'm contemplating doing a binding with false piping. Always pushing my skill envelope. Not sure if that's a good thing or not ...

Wow, I am enjoying reading these conversations! Krystyna, pushing your "skill envelope" is one of the best things about this swap!! I feel bad because with the move and all, I really don't have time for anything very intriquate (spelling?) Am thinking the intricasy (again?) might be in the actual quilting of the piece. Scared.......so scared!!!!! LOL!!

Well, I was going to upload a photo, but I guess it's time to get a new camera or something. The colors are soooo off. Always a problem with purples. And the stitching looks lurid in the photo, but not in person. Foo.

Lisa, you are way ahead of me. I have fabric. That's it. No pattern; no ideas. And today committed to making a going away quilt by the 21st for friends moving full time to Florida. But it will get done....eventually. Time to go trolling for patterns.

No worries, no hurry Kris. I am planning on quilting it by hand. I'm not that great at hand quilting but love doing it while watching TV mainly the olympics right now. So take your time! I 'm glad to know I'm not the only who didn't have their dq ready to mail the day partners were listed! We got some speedys on this board! lol
