I'm not sure I understand what you mean about the background. I don't do embroidery or appliqué, so how does the background work on a pieced block? Maybe a pieced center?

The background is open on this swap so it really doesn't matter mom of 6.

mom-6, pieced blocks are great! They are great added into a quilt mixed with embroidery and applique. So, hope you definitely will join us. I always try to add in at least 1 or 2 sets of pieced blocks. They are fun to make.

I agree Judith! The pieced blocks really add to the whole look of a swap block quilt.

There has been a little confusion about the blocks for this swap. I went on line and nabbed a couple quilts that could look like ours when we are done. Now the little snowman blocks or winter sports or scenes are welcome too. I hope this gives us a little inspiration direction from these pics.

I am making bubble lights on a tree branch next and a Christmas red and white dog with a santa cap on and I think a peppermint circle so far. Now don't worry if you were going to make that too. There are a dozen people in the swap and a set is only four, so plenty of room for more of the same theme block.
