Default "Wintery Holiday” 6-1/2” Square Fabric Swap -- CLOSED

September’s swap theme is “Wintery Holiday” 6-1/2” squares, up to 6 sets. We will be doing a noodle twist this month…see information below!!!

Registration is open to the first 104 Sets or until September 14th (a GREAT day!!!), whichever comes first. I would like to have these in hand no later than 09/21/2012. If you sign up, please follow through with commitment and deadline. If you sign-up and need to drop out let me know ASAP!!!

Due to the private message constraints, I will be doing correspondence by e-mail. I have set-up a swap only e-mail address (approved by PatriceJ) at [email protected] (*Please use for swap ONLY correspondence)

*~* Please E-mail me all the info below to [email protected]: *~*
Board name:
How many sets you're doing:
Date when you plan ship your package by:
E-mail address:
Your real name:
Your mailing address:

*After I have received all of the info I will add you to the list of swappers and E-MAIL you a message with shipping instructions and a checklist.

This swap was approved by PatriceJ. The link for general swap rules. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm

Each swapper will submit 12 – 6-1/2” squares of any 1 UN-WASHED 100% cotton fabric that encompass Winter and Wintery Holidays. Please be creative and think outside the box. *(If you have any questions please ask.)

Squares should be carefully rotary cut from UN-WASHED 100% cotton fabric. If needed, please take the time to fussy cut. Fabric contains two selvaged ends. Make sure you completely CUT OFF BOTH!!! Select fabrics that will hold up to a lot of love, wear, and tear as well as multiple washings. Fabrics that fray easily or are fairly easy to see through are not good fabrics for this swap. Please be advised that fabrics that are NOT appropriate related fabrics, squares that are not square, off grain, those that are not the right minimum size, those with the selvage edge still attached, or those that are deemed unusable by me will be returned unswapped.. Please keep in mind I have the right to return all or part if your set is deemed unacceptable…so please take the extra moment to look over your 12 squares carefully before sending to me.

I will accept squares 6-1/2” – 7” as most of us will use them as is. Anything less than MY 6-1/2” measurement will be returned. If you are unsure of your accuracy, over-sized squares will be accepted as they can be cut down to size if need be... please nothing over 7”. Approximately 1/2 of a yard will yield 12 count – 6-1/2” squares nicely. If you are fussy cutting, please buy extra.

* - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - *

Here’s how it works:

In your package to me you will enclose:

** 1 QUART SIZED (Hefty/Ziploc) SLIDER bag with 12 count – 6-1/2” (up to 7”) squares of ONE fabric for each set. (Please note that the gallon sized baggies are getting harder to stuff into the flat rate envelope)
~Fabric must be UN-washed, ironed and in quart sized bags for safe passage thru USPS.
~ Selvages MUST be removed entirely from both ends. Be sure to remove ALL selvage holes.
~ Please remember that each set (baggie) should be cut from a different unwashed fabric
~ 5-6 sets fit in ONE priority flat rate envelope… *(confirm with your PO for price increase) more than 6 sets will fit in the legal sized or padded flat rate envelopes.

** Write your screen name ON your baggies along with SET amounts AND TWIST AMOUNTS. For example, if I wanted to do 4 sets and 2 twists, I would write YosamitesaX4 + 2 TWISTS on the bag in a Sharpie or pen that will not rub off or on a label attached to the baggie. ~~MUST HAVE NAME ON BAGGIE!!! If there is no name, you may get your own fabric back or you may get someone elses...

** ALSO INCLUDE YOUR REAL NAME AND MAILING ADDRESS ON EACH BAGGIE***NEW REQUIREMENT!!! Should your envelope be swallowed by the USPS machines, they can get the fabric back to you.
** Please staple (or tape) a piece of your fabric on the outside of the baggie. A piece of your fabric is required stapled on the outside of the individual baggie for identification purposes. (See picture)

Also in your package INCLUDE a sandwich baggie or envelope with the following:
**Sample pieces of each of your fabric(s) stapled to 1 small piece of cardboard/cardstock/paper/etc.
~The fabric must be big enough for me to determine which fabrics you sent in; approximately 2”x2” from your left over fabric is perfect.
~Also include on the paper your board name, your name and your mailing address (an address label works great). (See picture)

~My goal with this is so that I will NOT give you any of your fabric back. This helps me keep up with what everyone sent in as a quick reference, since I will have (hopefully) over 150 sets and a toddler who gets into EVERYTHING!
**A self-adhesive return address label
**Return priority postage of $6.00 – DO NOT SEND YOUR OWN ENVELOPES. Every package will contain delivery confirmation back home to you. This way I can track to make sure all are delivered. Please remember that if you do not send enough return postage I will not be able to return your swapped squares until you send me the difference. IF YOU DO NOT SEND AT LEAST $6.00, I will return your squares unswapped once postage is received. After 30 days, I will donate the unclaimed squares to charity. Due to quick turn-around I WILL NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS!!! Postage stamps, Post Office money orders, or concealed cash at your own risk will be accepted as forms for shipping costs (NOT metered postage as some of these expire before I can get the packages back to you).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for the TWIST!!!
The twist theme will be BRIGHTS – any BRIGHT, need your sunglasses fabrics -- NO homespun or broadcloth!!!
~ ONE 2-1/2” x WOF from FIVE different BRIGHT fabrics.
~ 2-1/2” strips must be from 100% unwashed cotton fabrics
~ Please cut carefully - NO ‘V cuts at the folds …
*** Place all five 2-1/2” x WOF in a SANDWICH size baggie- FLAT and staggered so I can count them.
*** Label EACH SANDWICH baggie with your board name and twist amount. i.e. Yosamitesa x2 Twists
*** Max SIX (6) twists per member
*** This TWIST is optional - Not mandatory to participate in the twist to join this swap, however you must be in the swap to participate in the twists.***

* - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - *

I would like to have these in hand no later than 09/21/2012. A post mark no later than 09/15/2012 should give the USPS ample time to deliver without a grace period. After 09/15/2012 PRIORITY shipping is recommended (i.e. flat rate). After 09/18/2012, OVERNITE shipping or FedEx, etc. is required.... International members need to send them to me sooner- PM for details.

Please remember that any packages received after 09/21/2012 will be automatically returned unswapped. Any member not fulfilling commitment will not be accepted in any of my future swaps and negative feedback will be posted to members account per Moderators requirements.

I will then sort 09/22 –09/29 and hope to mail out squares on 10/01/2012 –No later that 10/05/2012

Any questions please pm me. I'll be happy to assist any way I can. Happy quilting everyone!!!!

Ok, everyone. I keep joining all these swaps, send out my package, and get my goodies back. They are starting to pile up. I just can't keep up with all of them. Tell me please. Do you get all your goodies used befoe joining another swap or put them on a shelve and then start feeling guilting because you signed up for another swap. I have so many quilts I want to do and just don't have the time to do them all. Let us know if you can refrain from joining a swap to catch up.

I agree with Luv. I did finally use some "food" 10.5 squares for a picnic quilt. But otherwise, this quilting thing has turned me into a hoarder. LOL

I buy those "scrapbook paper" plastic holders that holds the 12-1/2" paper and I can fit SEVERAL sets in there to "preserve" them. Haven't used a single one from my swaps yet.

I have used some of the 10-1/2" squares from luv's swaps, but none from mine yet...I have a plan for my Cartoony squares. I'm going to make a churn dash quilt with them as the center...some day.
