Bonnie Hunter swears by cutting up the scraps from each and every quilt she makes as part of the cleaning up process. I wish I had the discipline to do this. I usually am deep into the next project before the first one gets close to being put away! But I too am determined to keep my scraps under control in the future. I now have a bin I keep on the cutting table for scraps too small to go back into the FQ bins. From now on, when it gets full, we will have a scrap cutting day!

"Piecin' a quilt's like livin' a life...The Lord sends us the pieces, but we can cut 'em out and put 'em together pretty much to suit ourselves, and there's a heap more in the cuttin' and the sewin' than there is in the caliker...I've had a heap of comfort all my life making quilts, and now in my old age I wouldn't take a fortune for them." Someone else mentioned Bonnie Hunter. I've been stopping my projects periodically to cut scraps and use her 'leaders and enders' idea. I'm making half square triangles as I work on my Dear Jane quilt. It's amazing how many half square triangles I'm sewing just while making my DJ blocks.

You did a great job with your scraps. It does seem to take long, but what a good feeling to have those stacks already cut!
