No one goes into my sewing room but me. If I need to, I just move my machines into the dinning room to have extra space. Not a big deal.
    This sounds so like me!

My place is clean enough for the pastor to drop by without warning, and dirty enough to be fun so that my sewing buddies & neighbors feel free to "come on over for coffee" anytime. Other than that, I just don't worry about such things. I have an open door policy. If I'm home and the blinds are open, then the coffee is hot, and the tea is fresh. If you want something stronger, I can do that too. Come on over, I love company.

My sewing room is in the basement. At the bottom of the stairs I have a sign that reads "Sewing Room, enter at your own risk". Whenever my husband comes down the first thing he does is pick up a pin and sighs and moans and groans about pins on the floor, or threads, or fabric scraps. I point out more to him and he picks them up. When he finally figured out what's going on and still complains I'll point to the sign and that usually shuts him up!

I'm doing my best to keep my sewing room stuff in the sewing room. There's not really any extra energy left to actually tidy up the sewing room! I find myself just slowly inching into the fabric bins from my sewing room into the area outside my sewing room...."just for a minute, just for tonight, just until I get this quilt top pressed, etc.". Right now, there is a stack of 4 plastic bins and a basket of crochet just outside the doorway to my sewing room. But, the bins are all nicely labeled so I can easily see what I need! Hmmmmmmm...I think it's time to see how I can fit more bins into the sewing room.......I don't like creating an obstacle course outside my room!

My sewing "area" is the corner of a spare bedroom upstairs ... which was fine until I purchased 2 more machines. I have my sewing machine in the corner against the wall, a small embroidery machine on a table at the foot of the bed and my larger embroidery machine on one end of my dining room table downstairs. I cut my fabrics on my dining room table; piece them in the bedroom upstairs; my pressing is done in the laundry room (built-in wall ironing board) downstairs. I assemble my quilt sandwich on my dining room table or living room floor, then back upstairs to quilt it. AND we live in a split-level house. Haha. I get plenty of exercise when working on a quilt. If I had to "tidy" each area every day, I would never get a quilt made. LOL.

I'm trying to talk my DH into donating the bed and getting a quality sofa bed. We don't have guests overnight often ... but do like to have the space in the event we need it. And we have another spare bedroom we can use (we're empty nesters). At least this way I could setup everything in one space and keep the rest of the house more presentable.

I clean my sewing room when I can't see the floor in the closet. About every 3 months. That is when I "Lost" my pinking shears, have not found them yet!
