This is by far the best organized fabric stashI've seen yet. Easy to find everything from the smallest scrap to your largest quilt backing. I had already done the hanging fabric folders, and am now busy making the scrap bags. Great idea Dilyn, thank you for sharing.

Oh...this is just the perfect solution...thanks! I'm planning a sewing room and have 7 file cabinets that I've been wondering how to incorporate into my room design. I'm going to run with your ideas! Thanks so much! One of the many things I like about this concept is that once the cabinet drawers are closed, everything's all neat and tidy. That's especially nice for me, since the room doubles as a guest room.

You made my day, tropit! Always glad to help a fellow quilter! Be sure to post pics of how you use the file cabinets!

This way of storing is fantastic. I am constantly unstacking bins, looking and restacking it drives me nuts. This hanging file folder idea would solve that problem. I also like being able to rummage for scraps in a bag and not have the bag fall over.
The hanging fabric means you could also resort just by lifting one out and putting it in a different order! The possibilities seem endless!

It would also be handy to have a few empty ones to pop a project in when someone interrupts you, or one for your current project in a file box or crate next to your sewing machine. Or just to put it away if you are gone for a bit. keep it clean, specially if you have pets.
