    Default Ladders for quilt display

Just wanted to show how I display some of my antique quilts. The first pic, is an old ladder hung sideways. The other 3 pics are a ladder I made from 2 - 2/4s and some dowels. I aged this new wood by soaking steel wool in vinegar and then using an old rag to wipe it onto the wood. In both cases, I covered the ladders with several coats of polyurethane. I've had the first ladder for years, and the one I made for 2 years, and have never had any issues with stains on the quilts. The nice things about making your own ladder is you can make it to fit your space and you can space the rungs to display more of the quilts.

Yes, they really are simple to make. Job well done. Just be sure they won't fall over.

Great ladders! Such a great way for more vertical storage of quilts.

Can't wait to try the steel wool in vinegar - never heard of that before. Your quilts look beautiful on the ladder!
