I finally have a quilt studio!
I have been sewing in our basement laundry room for years but finally took over the bigger portion of our basement for a larger sewing area. I've been saving, planning, and researching for this for quite awhile. (I have loved looking at all the sewing rooms and storage ideas on this board and Pinterest!) I hired a contractor, had the cement walls insulated and drywalled, had custom cupboards built for all the supplies, and now I have a place where I love to spend time. I like the vinyl wood-look, peel and stick floor for easy clean up but I can't recommend this brand from Lowes -it doesn't want to stay stuck down! :shock:I love having storage cupboards with doors. It keeps the room looking neater especially since there is a family room at the other end of this room. (hopefully the pics will show up)

Mgause - we are drooling over the potential for photos! Remember, don't preview the post or you will lose your photos and I find I have to resize my photos to a smaller size in order for them to post.

Thanks Paulswalia. I did not know that the 'preview' would prevent photos. Now when I select the icon to Insert Image, I get the 'Insert Image' window but not the field to enter the name or the browse button. Any help would be appreciated.

I am envious. I would so love to have cupboards. Still using plastic storage bins and the closet. After I complete a quilt it looks a cyclone went through the room. Takes about two days to clean up. Lovely job.

What a wonderful, large, bright space! I love the cabinets, too. And I too have enjoyed seeing everyone's quilting space. I'd post pictures of mine, but am a bit nervous due to all the problems everyone seems to have with posting pictures. One day...

As soon as I got the room done, my son moved home while he job searches. He brought with him his hobby - he ties fishing flys. He has a ton of stuff - crates, storage bins, boxes, etc., and moved that into a portion of the cleaned up studio/family room. Now in addition to trying to keep the sewing threads swept up, we are trying to keep feathers, itty bits of metalic strings, etc, swept up. It's a never ending saga.

Love the cabinets. I would love some of those. I have all my stuff in totes and it's a pain.
