My sewing corner :)

2 Attachment(s)
Tucked in the corner of the living room... you can't tell in the picture, but when I sit in the chair I actually bump hubby's chair, so it is a tight space, but it is all mine :) So excited, I just did the ironing table (http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...d-t210171.html) and put it in place today. There is an outlet right there so it is perfect. Hoping to have time to use it soon.

Thanks for letting me share :)

grannie cheechee 01-08-2013 03:35 PM

Isn't it great to have a corner all to yourself? LOL Nice space!!!!!!!!!!

nygal 01-08-2013 03:45 PM

It looks great. A little space is better than no space. It looks inviting.

jhoward 01-08-2013 04:13 PM

Good for you a space to call your own!

Country1 01-08-2013 05:43 PM

Small spaces some times are best. If you are like me, I have 2 hobby/ sewing rooms, and they are filled to the rim. Too many hobbies and to much stuff!... I have trouble finding stuff and keeping it neat.
I think your area looks very neat and organized.
My Mother never had a sewing room of her own until about a year ago. She is 65 and made almost ALL of our clothes when we were kids. She made us beautiful clothes, I remember her making my Dad and brother double knit/ polyester leisure suits for Easter. Baby doll clothes and Barbie doll clothes that I played with, then my DD, and now our grand-daughter. I have some of them on display on one of our Antique Walls.
Thanks for sharing your space with us, I think it is wonderful.

That's a lovely little corner...and I love the ironing table :)

annthreecats 01-09-2013 01:42 AM

I love your 301. What a beauty in it's own table. And when it's hot you will have lots of cool air. Great space.

MimiBug123 01-09-2013 04:44 AM

Everything is so neat!!!! My project of the day is to make a tv tray ironing table. I can't decide what fabric to use. Yours looks so tropical! Did you use Insulbrite, batting, old towels or what under the fabric top?

wytetygeress 01-09-2013 05:38 AM

I started just like this. Sometime (shhh don't tell DH) I miss all the noise from everyone when I quilted in the house, sometimes. I have a question for you though..Why is there plastic over your A/C? ( I was born and raised in Florida, a hard winter to me is 35, which I complain all winter) =)

callen 01-09-2013 06:05 AM

Nifty little corner of your sewing world. Love what you did to the tv table - what a great idea!!

KellyPA 01-09-2013 06:52 AM

Thanks everyone!

wyte - it's winter here in PA and pretty cold, if we don't cover the AC in the winter time a HORRIBLE wind comes through there and our heating bill is already crazy (and we only keep the heat at 60degrees), so we do whatever we can to keep the bill as low as possible. Even with the plastic that corner is cold... my tushy is always freezing when I sew! :)

great corner to create in

pinebeltquilter 01-09-2013 08:28 AM

Such a neat place to sew, and I love your sewing machine. I bought one just like it in 1962 and I still have it!!

Grama Lehr 01-09-2013 08:40 AM

Great space and just the right size ironing board.

vondae 01-09-2013 12:50 PM

Very cozy & I love your little rocking chair pincushion. I would love to have one, too. I'm sure you will be sewing up a storm in your little piece of heaven on earth. God speed as you stitch.

CAS49OR 01-09-2013 12:52 PM

It's nice, and you get to hang out with your hubby while you sew!

joycet 01-09-2013 01:04 PM

Nice set up..I especially like your vintage machine.

Very nice...sounds like all you need is a little space heater for some extra warmth. We have one in our family room and it takes that edge off of 60 degrees.

damaquilts 01-09-2013 03:17 PM

I am going to have to take a hint from your cozy little corner . I have to move again this time going down to one 12 x 13 room for me personally bedroom and sewing room . :) Should be very interesting. I now have a 11x15 room just for my sewing.

SandyinZ4 01-09-2013 03:28 PM

Even a tiny cozy little space is better than nothing. Yours looks so nice and neat. Happy sewing!

hheelleenn 01-09-2013 03:30 PM

Do you both fit in there at the same time? Or do you have to schedule timing? Ah, if you are there with him, no gass-y vegetables for dinner. Looks cozy though. If something falls, it's not going far.

nstitches4u 01-09-2013 04:45 PM

Very cozy sewing nook.

ging10ging 01-09-2013 04:54 PM

Have fun in your own corner. I love your little rocking chair on the desk. Enjoy your space and you can be in the same room as hubby. Sue

Jackie R 01-09-2013 06:38 PM

Very nice space. The ironing table is a very good idea - will have to try that out.

Spudgm 01-09-2013 07:07 PM

What a great space, but I must agree I would have it buried in no time :)

sewdamncute 01-09-2013 07:24 PM

My little corner is a tad bigger but I have the same type of pressing table, wouldn't be without it.

I bought a wooden TV tray table and stapled on several layers of odd batting pieces, cotton of course. Then stapled tightly over that a piece of upholstery cotton fabric, and then a piece of natural Calico. Afterwards I made two washable removable covers, with elasticated edges so that it was easy to keep clean, I have had it for over 5 years and wouldn't be without it :)
