Im still new to this site, but, I didnt know if I am missing a pic of your storage solution and if so. how do i see it. thanks

Dee 05-01-2011 05:21 PM

I keep the patterns I draw out also. Also, patterns I've made when I sew clothes-especially pants and capris. I kkep them in a smaller folder and larger ones in a zip up quilt bag.

Quiltaddict 05-01-2011 05:42 PM

Great idea, I just don't have any free wall space.

Go to page 1. That's where the orginal picture is.
There's always someone here to answer questions.

I've been organizing my sewing studio and decided to make use of some vertical space for storing all those patterns and quilting designs I've drawn on freezer paper. So...I made this today and tacked it up beside my new quilting table. Seems like this would work well for other things on rolls like embroider stabilizer too...

I used quilting fabric and Timtex to make this. The back is one panel of Timetex covered with fabric on both sides. I made tubular slings of quilting fabric also stiffened with Timetex and sewed them across the top to the back panel. The whole thing is about 36" long and 20" wide.

That is a good idea. I have only a small room and any other ideas I can find will help utilize the areas better. Thanks you.

Quilter2B 05-03-2011 07:57 AM

OMG, that is such a great idea! I have two drawers full of stuff that could benefit from such a thing. I've been wondering how I could get more storage off the floor and get rid of some of these plastic storage binds and this would work perfectly - I can see it now done with all my scrapies. Hope you don't mind if I copy your idea; its GREAT! Thanks for sharing.

Great idea! Thanks.

We sure think alike. I've been trying to come up with a better solution for these items than what I'm using. I totally agree with you that a smaller version would save buying more.
I also find I need to mark rolls with what they are since if I don't use them for awhile I forget what they are.

Very nice-gotta love those DIY projects!

Boy, do I know what you mean about that! I can't tell you how many times I've pulled a roll of stablizer out had had to try to tear it to see if it was tear-away or not; and if not...then what, exactly, could it be?

This will work. handy and keeps things tubular. very nice. Thanks for sharing

quilt addict 05-03-2011 02:03 PM

Thank you for sharing. I will book mark this for whenever I do my sewing room. I hope that I can do it soon. I would love to see a little tutorial if you have the time.

Great idea.

I save salvages and use them to tie up rolls of stuff. I think you could write on them what you are tying up to keep track. Just an idea.

A Pic of mine

ok just was browsing around new site, came across this old message and trying to attachment a pic. I went under Manage Attachments, clicked browse uploaded my photo but it just kept telling me to wait and then that screen went blank.
Tried it again and received message upload failed, yet its a pic that I have posted before...oh well.

I have directions for one of these and thought of doing the same thing. Very nice.

By the way--how do you like your Juki? I have never sewed on one.

3incollege 11-03-2011 05:26 PM

That is so neat

wtxpeach 11-03-2011 05:34 PM

I have not used the Timtex before. Is it difficult to sew through and does it crease? Thanks
