I want to share something I came up wth today...

I've been organizing my sewing studio and decided to make use of some vertical space for storing all those patterns and quilting designs I've drawn on freezer paper. So...I made this today and tacked it up beside my new quilting table. Seems like this would work well for other things on rolls like embroider stablizer too...

I used quilting fabric and Timtex to make this. The back is one pannel of Timtex covered with fabric on both sides. I made tubular slings of quilting fabric also stiffened with Timtex and sewed them across the top to the back pannel. The whole thing is about 36" long and 20" wide.

very nice!

Clever!

A smaller version would work wonders for the mess of interfacing and stabilizers and fusibles I have all over the place. I always end up buying more because it's easier than trying to find the right product - and forget about finding the instructions with it.

Great idea! Thanks.

Not only pretty but functional :)

Great Ideal so clever, Thanks for sharing your creation. :D

BeeNana 04-30-2011 04:24 PM

What you made is so perfect to hold many things. You did a fine job for organizing. I wonder if a stiff iron on stabilizer would be less expensive than Timtex. Many thanks for sharing this wonderful project.

Becky Crafts 04-30-2011 04:30 PM

What is Timtex? I haven't heard of that yet. A type of pellon?

oldswimmer 04-30-2011 04:31 PM

Love it! Great use of space...and pretty too!

emerald46 04-30-2011 04:37 PM

Very clever..see lots of possibilities there in my own mess.

gellybean402 04-30-2011 04:37 PM

Very clever and stylish too! Thanks for the tip!

I love it ! It would be great for those long rulers and t squares. Yours is so pretty and elegant.

Izaquilter 04-30-2011 04:38 PM

Love the idea. I need to find a shoe organizer for my stuff. I think of it when I'm in my sewing room but when I'm out at the stores I totally forget it! Need to write it down! I need more wall space tho!

Timtex is a very stiff type of pellon usually used in purses, fabric boxes and sometimes bookcovers. It is thick and VERY stiff. Lighter interfacing would probably work, and would certainly be easier to sew. Both JoAnn's and Walmart carry it here.

what a clever idea, thanks for sharing

Jingle 04-30-2011 04:47 PM

Brilliant idea. I have two Juki sewing machines just like yours, use them all the time, one for piecing, other for meander quilting. Love them both.

Plus, lighter interfacing might be less expensive than Timtex.

Thumbs up!!

cjaye44 05-01-2011 03:00 AM

I've bookmarked this for future use in my sewing room. A very clever way to store those odds and ends that tend to stack up or get lost.

piepatch 05-01-2011 03:05 AM

I think this is a great idea, and I love the pretty fabrics you used !

jpmaroni 05-01-2011 03:28 AM
