I have a teeny-tiny sewing room and have a shelving unit on wheels that can be moved around. I hang all my rulers off of hooks on one side.

The ones I use all the time I keep laying around and move off when I don't need them. Ones I don't use stay in the ruler holder, out of the way. June Taylor strip cutter stands on floor between a couple of totes. All works me.

I went to Ikea and bought their hooks and the bars that go with them. One is on the wall and I hooked their metal pails to them--storage for pencils, calculator, etc. The second and third bars with the hooks are on the wall right beside my cutting table and on a filing cabinet right there as well. One bar and hooks holds my various scissors, rotary cutters, etc and the other bar on the cabinet holds the big rulers that don't fit into the slot holder I have on my cutting table. Easy to see and to get to. Slot holder is for the rulers I use constantly.
For my quilting machine rulers, they are all in plastic sleeves, in binders labelled on the spine.

I BOUGHT tension rod and shower hooks. Was going to hang them all. Could not get the tension rod to stay up! Back to the drawing board....

Maybe NanoTape would help them stay up? I used that on a tension rod I had that wouldn't stay put, and it helped.

I have old, old spring clamp-type skirt hangers that I use to hang my large rulers in the closet. One per hanger up against the sidewall of the closet. The smaller ones are in a bin in my old china cabinet (now quilting storage cabinet). The 3 or 4 that I tend to use constantly are usually found laying on my cutting table unless the GRANDS are over visiting. When they're here everything gets put up so they can't run off with anything. (my quilting area is the dining room. open to all!)

Mcadwell - before i got around to trying the Nano tape i have filled the space with a small shelf unit to get my jelly rolls all corralled! The unit is a total space filler for temporary. I am trying to get ALL my sewing things out so i can see what i actually have. My space has filled up fast! So had to come up with another idea. Enter plan b

Plan B. My husband made a coat rack that is on the wall and has about 12 hooks. Each hook sticks out several inches. It is in the LR which i have turned in to my sewing studio. So last week i took off all the coats and hung all my rulers with holes in them on it. I hung several rulers on each hook. I used shower curtain hooks and they are fine but - its funny how something that is not super easy to open and close - i can see myself not getting them hung back up! I really need to work on better habits!!

Agree ... those shower hooks are not user friendly!
How about fine nails, and hang one on each?
Or longer nails, where you can hang more than one ruler?

Go to HomeDepot (or the equivalent) and get a piece of peg board. There are all sorts of accessory hooks available. Attach the peg board to a wall (a couple of screws through studs) put in the hooks and hang those rulers.

I am finding that i do get them hung back up, i just don't close the hook! They hang just fine with the hook still open. It’s not like they are constantly being jostled around.
I am happy with the set up. And i am hanging more as i unearth them! And finding duplicates!
