Thinking, thinking...if you have nowhere to put the tension rod, one could hang a curtain rod or dowel on a wall using a right angle shelf bracket and hang it over your cutting area.

feffertim....I have tried every ruler taming system out there and non have really worked. Yours is the best so far. Now, I am on a mission to find a place I can put a rod and go get me some shower hooks. Thanks for sharing! And thanks to oksewglad for the tip on the shelf bracket. That's doable. In fact, you could use two, one on each end and not have to use an offsetting wall. Maybe now I will be able to find my rulers. I swear they go play at night and forget to come back to the sewing room.

Actually, I'm having pretty good luck with command hooks on the sides of cabinets. Just have to remember to put them away when I'm finished with them...lots of luck with that one!

Oh...thanks for that idea...you've got my mind thinking. I'm away from home, but I can rearrange my sewing room in my mind! I noticed the picture shows the wooden slotted holders I'm currently using........they take up much need surface area.......so I am going to think of how I can utilize your idea....just gotta think! Thanks for sharing!
