I have pegboard holding up all my threads as well as smaller items making it easier to find them quickly. Here's a few photos. I have most all my threads on pegboard near the machine that uses it. This photo is basically my e mbroidery threads but the bottom pegboard holds most of my quilting threads. The 2nd photo is just half of my small items I use for my sewing projects. The other half not shown holds some of the rulers we think we must have in our lives.

I have a pegboard that takes up about half a wall in my sewing room. It holds tons of things! And you can see what you need at a glance. It's the best thing in there.
I got my supplies at Home Depot. Great investment.
(but my sewing room is still a mess haha)
