Have u checked out “theoriginalscrapbox”. They have a to die for hobby box use machine in it store all your notions thread fat qtrs. U name it. I’ve had mine for a few years n just love it. U can look me up on here as I have posted pics of my remodeled garage into sewing studio even tho it is a work in progress & they ow have one called dream box. They r located in Utah n ship all over. Not any more expensive than buying a bunch of cabinets from ikea

if you are looking for something like the 'scrapbox", have you thought about hiring a carpenter to make you one? You might have to go to IKEA and buy the different parts and have someone fit all the parts together, such as hinges, wheels etc... it might be worth your time and trouble.

I think we'd all take a dream box. My cutting table is an old desk, my ironing station is a baby changing table. The fabric is sorted into color families and in Sterilite tubs. Everything is labeled and all instructions are in notebooks.

thanks all! The dream box might be an option - just saw that they have it available in Canada ... the other option is to take the picture to Ikea and take my dad LOL and see if he can do it!

I don't mind paying a fair bit to have exactly what I want. I'm not married, so have no dependents, and I am still working, so not on a fixed income. I want to to have everything set up so that when I do retire (in about 20 years hahaha) I have everything done, and don't have to worry about it.

Just took a look at his site and noticed that Ateliers Quilt & Coton in Gatineau reps for him. I'm sure they must have at least one piece in the shop, so that you can get a sense of the quality.
Not sure if you have any big quilt shows in your area, but he does take his show on the road quite a bit, all across the country. So that would be another possibility to check things out IRL.
I bought one of his sewing desks a few years back. Started with the basics and did a few customizations for me.

The craft box box looks nice but it is practical for your sewing space? Determine what you will store in the unit and where it will be placed. Will everything fit or do you need a secondary storage area?
In other words, first plan what you need to store and the required space for the. Then find the furniture unit. How do you like to store threads, rulers, stabilizers, etc?
Will the "box" meet your storage needs; current and future? Lots of decisions!
