New sewing room!
WhooHoo!
My hubbie has hired a contractor to build me a sewing room in his heated shop. The space he's willing to give up is 12'X20'. I have an HQ 16 on a 12' pro-frame. (Yeah I know...if the room was just a couple feet wider...but I'm happy to get the space I'm getting).
Any suggestions on how to set this space up? There are two windows on one side and outlets every 4' feet. The door will be on the end.
Thanks!
KD

Congratulations! If you put the 12 foot frame on the 20 foot wall you will have extra room at the end for a cutting table or sewing machine? Before moving the 12 foot frame in, see if you can put up shelves on the wall space above for things you only need occasionally.

What a generous hubby you have. As to how to arrange the space, make a list of the 5 most important things to you. Is it sewing with a view out the window? Is it floor to ceiling storage of a stash? Is it an easy-clean floor or lots of horizontal surfaces? What have you most enjoyed about your former sewing room and what has bothered you? Those would be questions I'd address first. Happy dreaming and planning.

Get yourself some graph paper. Measure everything you need/want in your room and cut out scale pieces. Make sure you mark all the doors/windows. Keep in mind to mark the swing of the door as well. Then play paper dolls with the cutouts until you get everything arranged the way you want. You will probably change your mind about some of the smaller stuff once you actually get everything moved in but having a plan should reduce the changes to a dull roar. Congrats on the new room.

I have been using this site to arrange my new studio: http://urbanbarn.icovia.com/icovia.aspx
I just found a square and then sized it to what I needed.
