What color do I paint my sewing room
#31
My favorite paint color is just barely not-white....it has a tiny, tiny bit of lavender in it and maybe an even smaller touch of pale grey. It looks white but when you really look and think about it, depending on light, you either see the lavender hint or the grey, or around dusk, it's a beautiful lavender-grey. I think it was Behr but don't remember the color name.

i would say a nice cream. it gives you the lightness without the starkness of white. these reason that i suggest cream is that the walls could compete with the other colors of your quilts and fabrics. there will be plenty of color without color on the walls.

Here's my 2 cents...assuming you have lots of cabinets, etc. how much wall are you really going to see? After that, if you're doing a design wall, won't it be a white or off white batting/flannel something? I don't know that, regardless of color, it's going to interfere that much with what you have on your design wall. Me...my sewing room is blue. I like blue. I get plenty of natural light but still not enough to see what I'm doing. Still have lamps on when I'm sewing in the middle of the day. Light changes during the course of the day and it changes the color and hue of the room. Find a color you like. Don't worry about what it 'might' do to your fabric colors - it will change with the hour of the day. Be happy. And good luck.

For sure put your favorite color in there, It's the only room in my house that no one else has a vote in. I painted my walls a celery green, reflects the natural light and makes me smile, My daybed, (of course it is always covered in fabric) is a scrap quilt in all shades of pink/green/yellow/blue. My curtains are white, it looks darling.

I painted mine two shades of apricot! It's not bright, just warm and comfortable! Since my room is longer than it is wide, I painted the ends the slightly darker shade and the sides the lighter shade. The window sills, door and ceiling are all white. I have two small windows and the outside door also has a 9-pane window, so I get outside light. I have both florescent and incandesant light as well. I love my shed!

Well, I did it. I got a pale lavender from Home Depot. It's called Soft Iris by Behr. I'm really excited to get it on the walls but the prep is next along with pulling up the carpet.
Thanks everyone for your input. It really helped me decided that I wanted a little color and besides, like was mentioned, most of the walls are covered with something else, design wall, shelves, etc.
