Some of you read my earlier post re my collection of vintage aprons being displayed at our local museum. The display is up and open for visitors. Some members expressed interest in coming to see the display. Their webpage is: kalamazoomuseum.org. It is a free museum, open 7 days a week. For a map and hours, see their website.

The central theme is "Michigan Eats" regarding foods grown, produced or traditionally made in MI. The design assistant thought aprons tied in nicely, so asked me to share my collection. There are about 70 in the display.

Spin off has been interesting. A piece will be on our public radio station (WMUK, FM 102.1) as well as a piece in our local newspaper. A reporter interviewed me by phone and a photographer is coming next week to take pics. Never imagined it would generate so much interest and publicity.

Here's many pics of the display cases at the museum: Enjoy!! TFL
BFF and I had fun choosing aprons to display and getting them ready. We had starch and pressing parties.

Gingham in all colors. Mostly chicken scratch, some smocking and one pulled work

Black on turq is unusual, also orange on green and black butterflies on blue, top right.

top third from left has a unique one strap back with a slide thru for the side ties. Very unusual! Nice inserts on the red print with blue triangles.

Pulled work on L, especially nice pleated with rickrack in middle, and smocking on right.

Assorted sheer and very old aprons. Some handkerchief aprons, also tie-less ones that pinned onto clothing. Maids' aprons here also

I've been waiting for you to post this display, wish I could see it in person. I have one pin on type and 2 chicken scratch plus several 40's, 50's and crocheted, they are fun to collect and look at. Your collection is wonderful, thanks for sharing it.

Jackie: Glad you enjoyed. Nice to hear about your collection also. Have fun acquiring, but beware, they multiply when you're not looking!!! I always swore the Fisher Price Little People procreated under my kids' beds at night! LOL!!!

Hi Amma: Glad you enjoyed seeing these. Been meaning to tell you, I love your quote about grandparents. Too true!! Sam Levenson was a witty man, always clever with words.
