Thank you everyone for your great ideas. Patrice, it doesn't look like we will be there at the same time but I appreciate your offer. I hope you have a great time. This is only my second visit to Houston, I am really looking forward to it.

I hope you are there for at least one day of the festival. The classes are awesome but seeing the quilts and all the vendors is a huge part of the festival experience for me.

Last year I attended the Houston Festival with my cousin and we stayed in a hotel about a half mile away. She has used Uber many times and encouraged me to download the App, sign up (give them your credit card information) and use it. I was so surprised at how easy it was to use and how I could track the Uber driver that agreed to pick us up. I have used it a few times since.
I hope you have a wonderful time!!!!

I live a couple of hours from Houston and have attended Quilt Festival many times. I always drive into town. I would not even consider getting on a bus in Houston. I do not think they would be a safe option and would avoid it unless there were no other choice. The light rail does not go from IAH to downtown. I used Uber last year once to get from the Convention Center back to my daughter's home where I stay. My phone was not even sophisticated enough to download the app so my son-in-law had to send it for me. I couldn't have been easier to manage. Since then my husband and I have used it a couple of times different cities, always successfully. Houston's Quilt Festival is a wonderful quilt show and event. I look forward to it from one year to the next. It is well worth the effort to attend and really takes more than one day to do it justice. If you only have Wednesday preview and Thursday for the show itself you will have to be satisfied with that, but longer is fun for me as there is so much to see and do. I am glad you get to come and am sure you will enjoy it.

I totally agree csstexas. I can't imagine trying to do the whole show in one day. I normally go 3 days using most of Sunday to look at the quilts and photograph them. Plus I intersperse my shopping with short quilt viewing times. It tends to break things up nicely.

I used Uber Tuesday evening to get from airport (hobby) to my hotel, the Hilton next to the convention center. $21. Very easy app to use. The driver was very courteous and drove safely. His car was spotless, another plus. I’ll be using Uber again to return to airport Saturday.
