Oh my, greenbo lake is about 20-minutes from me. The world is getting smaller all the time.

That name is so familiar to me. I am member of Creative Quilters that meets in Huntington, WV. She may be member there. I live just outside Ashland, near the KYOVA Mall. About 5-minutes from there. Love, Love, Love Greenbo area! I go every chance I get.

MeMeX8... I have talked to you before. I am from the Dickison Clan.... Levi and Emma were my grandparents.... sons Chester, Lloyd (my dad) Ralph, Lawrence, Mark, Dick, and Tom. Marjorie was the only girl and I was named after her. They lived on North Fork, just off Rt. 1.

Vera does not belong to a guild..

Just found this topic and I'm very interested in joining in with all of you. I live in London, about 1hour from Lexington. Or any place that is decided upon. I've been to Paducah but not to the quilting event, that would be awesome. And March would be a great time to travel. Linda

This does sound like fun. I'm from Northern KY, also.
The idea of March is good cause of the weather. Keep
us informed on the decision.

Sounds like fun. March sounds good since the weather should be better. We've got a lot of N. KY/Cincy people so we should be able to carpool. Maybe some of the NKY/Cincy people would like to try also for a local get-together?

OK Ya'll.....I have an idea but need your input. We had talked about meeting in March but then many folks what to do the Paducah show in April, but some don't feel up to doing that big of a show but would love a get together. Also, there is the issue that rooms in Paducah are already booked.
Well here is my idea...
That area of KY has several beautiful lake resorts and one of them is a State Park. The KY Dam Village State Resort is a short 45 minute drive to Paducah. Here are some of the advantages of looking at this option:
1. State parks are MUCH cheaper.
2. State parks have handicap rooms availabe for those needing it and the parks tend to be much more accessible to wheelchairs, etc.
3. This state park has camps sites for RVs, pop up trailers, tents, etc. as well as a lodge/inn and cottages.
4. There is a lake so the hubbies can come!
5. Kids would have something to do! They even have field trips for kids for like $1 - $3: http://www.parks.ky.gov/findparks/re...rks/kd/groups/
6. We could have a meeting room set up for sewing, tutorials, show and tell, etc. so that those who would rather NOT go in to Paducah would have something to do.
7. Finally, there are members from outside of KY coming to this area specifically for the Paducah show so we would have the opportunity to meet so many folks....not to mention the car pool opportunities for those who don't like to drive!!
Basically it would be like a "Retreat" and/or Paducah Show extravaganza!! Here is the site for the state park:
http://www.parks.ky.gov/findparks/resortparks/kd/

And here is information regarding the Quilt show:
AQS Quilt Show & Contest - Paducah, Kentucky
Paducah Expo Center
April 27-30, 2011

Ya'll give me your honest thoughts. If you HATE it, just let me know and I'll keep on thinking. :D

WOW!! You have really put a lot of work into this. I have to say that I love the idea of staying at KY. dam village. I have only been there once and it was nice. I can drive back and forth from there to home without too much of a problem with my anxiety, plus I might be able to get Leaha to ride with me which would help.
