Hi,I live in Fort Gibson. I'm retired, but still work answering the phone for a lawyer in Muskogee a few days a month (when the regular receptionist wants a day off). I have been sewing since I was a teenager. Have been quilting for just a few years. I mostly hand piece and hand quilt. It gives me something to do with my hands. I can't just sit and watch TV. It' good to know there are so many from OK.

Nancy

As you can tell I mostly lurk.

What a great bunch of Okies! I'm from Atoka and have lived around other parts of the state over the years.

I'm not a member of the Extension Homemakers (OHCE), but I work for the Extension Office since 1983. Love it. Never know what will happen from day to day.

I started sewing as a child making quilt blocks and doing 4-H projects. Sewed a lot of clothing for the boys when they were young, but now I do more crafts than anything. But quilting comes in a close second. Since I still work full time and volunteer at several organizations, I don't have much time for my "fun" things, but in a few years when I retire I'm hoping for great things.

I, too, have enough fabric to open a fabric store -- that's why I stay away from Betsey's in Antlers. Just too much temptation. I'm also clearing my mother's house in Shawnee, and she had more fabric than me. What a job!

Stay cool everyone. Judy

Anyone want to make a trip to Tulsa? The Quilt Sampler, 6024 S. Sheridan, is having a sale on Saturday. 2.99 sale fabric or if you buy the bolt, it is 1.99 a yard....what a Bargain!!!. I love that store, it s so big and roomy, and they never bug you while you browse, but always eager to answer your questions or offer suggestions. Also their classroom Bernina's are on sale too. It starts at 10 AM. If most of you are like me, I don't need to buy another piece of fabric, but it is so much fun. I am going to make a bunch of pillowcases today, so I will have an excuse to buy more. lol My grandaughter who is 10 is coming over to make 2 for birthday gifts for 2 of her friends this week. When she takes hers to sleepovers, they all love them, so I told her she should start making them one for their birthday gifts as they come around this year. She is so excited. She announced the other evening at supper that she was going to cooking school and sewing school at grandma's this summer. Love teaching her. Reminds me of my 4-H leader days. She and her 6 yr old sister are spending the weekend with us while their parents are going on a float trip. So looking forward to it.

Just got home from Oncologist appt with hubby, and have CyberKnife tomorrow am with him. Better get going or I will still be on this board and get nothing done. Have a good day everyone.
