I'm in Salem Iowa SE corner Henry Co. Lived here all my life. Grew up around my grandparents farms. Both sides farmed. I grew up in a little house in the country where when the corn field grew tall all you could see on three sides was corn! The fourth side was the highway.

Hi from Perry, Iowa which is about 32 miles nw of Des Moines. Rhonda, I actually know where Salem is.... Was born and raised
in Van Buren Co.

Rhonda 09-04-2010 04:55 AM

I love living in a small town for the most part. It is quiet and you know who is walking by usually and don't worry about crime a whole lot. Not that there isn't any but it is few and far between. I like being close to country living. We have lp tanks here instead of city gas. The houses are wide apart not jammed up against one another. The neighbors will help you if you need help. My mom fell and broke her wrist one winter and it was during a blizzard! Our neighbor John drove us into the hospital as there was no way I could drive in that snow!! It was close to a white out and the roads were shere ice and blowing drifting snow. Thank goodness for good neighbors!

Tho I could do without the gossips! I always say they know what you are thinking before you think it!

I live not far from you, in Orange City

the old one 09-04-2010 01:21 PM

Hi, Orange City Quilter, one of our daughters is visiting from south east Iowa, and today we went to Roelof's in Sioux Center. Where do you get your fabric? I really like scrap quilting the best, it is too hard to choose only four or five fabrics for a whole quilt (for me, that is) so I pick a color scheme and use whatever suits my eyes. Do you belong to a group? piecefully, the old one, or Gail
The "old one" is an inside family joke, but it fits!!
