I wish I could join you! Paducah is on my list for when we (finally!) retire. I have a sewing/quilting friend in Tennessee and another friend in Kentucky both of whom I'd love to get to see also. Have fun and take lots of pictures!

You are a wonderful person to be so generous with your time and knowledge. It's not often that you can find a "local" to get the inside scoop when you visit somewhere.
I'm a local around Shipshewana, only eleven miles away. I think I've shopped at every quilt store in the area. Maybe I can get healthy enough to do the same thing when our big quilt show comes in June. We are also gearing up for a Bonnie Hunter visit in 2019. Sounds like a bit farther out than it really is.
Marcia ..... don't let the Battle Axe scare you. It was a moniker from a long time ago.

Ariannaquilts, you are going to have a hard time finding a room now. The very latest you should look for a place is the first week in January. Who knows, though, you could get lucky and find a cancellation somewhere, but I'm betting they even have names on a list for cancellations.

I’m coming and camping over at Fort Massac state park in Illinois. I’ve been to the spring show several times. I prefer being by myself as I usually only come for one day. This time I bought the multi day pass and I’m taking a class too. I really enjoy The Rotary show as well as Eleanor Burns. DH will be with me this time through most of the show. I’m saving money now for Hancock’s!

I've been for the last 5 years and usually stay for 2 full days, but will only go for a day trip this year. I guess I've become a little jaded as last year did not seem quite as good to me, so thought I would dial it back a bit. Wasn't going to go at all this year, but I have a friend who has just started quilting and I would like to take her. She only lives about 2 hours away, so will make a good long day trip.

I've been going for years and the last few shows are not the same as the past shows at all. But still great. I remember when vendors were set up in the mall, Eleanor had the big tent and barn, hot and swampy basement of the convention center (glad that's gone). I was there the time of the flood and it was amazing how fast the quilt show was moved and set up in other locations. Quilt Week brings lots of money to the town, probably more then Christmas. I have met a few locals who don't like it because of the people and traffic but after chatting with them for a little bit it was obvious they don't like much of anything at anytime. LOL. Be sure and see the demos at the quilt museum if you can. If you missed George Siciliano last year he and his wife are there this year. You can see him sew his quilts up close and chat with them. I spent over an hour watching his perfect paper piecing technique. [h=3] https://www.pinterest.com/bridg67/george-siciliano/[/h]

I just booked with Harrah's in Metropolis, just a few miles out of Paducah. It's huge and they probably still have rooms.

Any QB members want to meet up in Paducah this year? I'm local and know all the 'ropes'. I'm meeting QB member beckyw...we met for the first time a couple of years ago and had a ball. She's coming back this year and we plan on doing the same thing. We'll do the show, go out to Hancocks, even over to see what Eleanor Burns is up to at her warehouse if you want. Anything you like. I know the town and the show like the back of my hand...Mom is one of the YoYo ladies too.
