Hi Marcia - the block is made up of 4 - 2.5 inch pinwheel squares. Each completed block is 4.5 inches. That's not too small, but I'd like to try something even smaller. :) I know - sucker for punishment :), but I love trying them.

Jane - this "design wall" is the back of my DH's recliner. It was late and the only reasonable lighting was in the living room so stuck the blocks to that. :) You can get a matching "design wall" at any Sears & Roebuck's. :P
I was thinking it was a couch! So those squares are much smaller than I thought at first. They are really nice! My aunt LOVES red, white and black- she would love this.

Very pretty! Putting them together that way, alternating their placement, gives them movement! Very clever, and good use of what is handy at the moment!

Other than the red binding here is the finished top. I'm going to quilt in the red with black thread and on the black border with red thread. :)

So, if my calculations are correct, this finished at about 22 X 22. Great size!!!

I made a bowtie doll quilt when I first started quilting, and I think I should have made the pieces smaller.

I LOVE this and I think your quilting will be beautiful in it!!!!
