    5 Pointed Star Block

I was looking for some ideas for a mini workshop with our quilt guild and I came upon this 5 pointed star block tutorial - http://croseprose.blogspot.com/2009/...-tutorial.html
After getting permission from the designer, I made a sample for the group. We had a small group last night probably due to the rain - yay! Finally rain! I don't know how long it's been - and it's going to rain pretty much all week long! Okay - anyhooo...
I made up this sample and the group all loved it and everyone wanted to do a 5 pointed star block workshop.

I thought I'd share the link (above) and my picture.
I rushed and my center is not as neat as I would have liked it to have been and it's a bit wonky here or there but I'm pretty happy with the end result.

Anyhoo. It's a really easy block. It took me longer to pick out and cut my fabrics than it was to actually make it.

It's terrific! I was hoping when I first looked at it that it was paper pieced and it IS! LOVE it! I have a 10 year old granddaughter who is totally interested in the solar system and it's workings, so have been wracking my brain for an idea for a Christmas gift quilt for her. This will be PERFECT! Thanks for posting the link.
Being skinny isn't easy, so I gave up and opted for being sexy instead. (aunty acid)

Am thrilled about the block but more thrilled about the rain. We need it so desperately. Please pray for us. The crops are already nearly ruined but there might be hope for some yet. Hope your class enjoyed and appreciated your efforts.

I love the block. I just printed it out. I am going to play with it and see how it works. Several ladies at the LQS are bugging me to teach paper piecing. It looks like it could be paper pieced. After I play with it I will ask her permission to use it for a class.
    We desperately need rain too.

That block would make an awesome scrappy quilt! All the stars could bein the same or similar colors and the rest could be scrappy or each block could be different colors or....... Possibilities are endless! Thank youfor sharing!

Your quilt is a stunner! Thank you for the link.

If you have extra rain, I would be happy to pay the postage on any you would like to send to Michigan. We need it badly. Crops are stunted and suffering. Bushed are loosing leaves and the poor animals are seeking anything green to eat just to get the moisture.
