I have one too. In the apartment building my daughter lived in, people put really good stuff out for the garbage man. She found mine sitting next to the trash bin.

I have one that looks almost exactly like yours. I have my seashell collection in it. I did not know it was a sewing basket when I found it at the thrift store.
